You notice who put the ad out. You really don't think Chevy would make their truck look bad do you. I also believe the Ram was not the 800 ft pd torque engine.

I base my decision on which truck I purchase for longevity and ability and Ford or GM falls way short of longevity. As to HP & TQ, unless I know of a change like in 04, I'm happy with the current numbers. A few years ago GM tested the D/A and climbed an easy grade in cool temps. I wonder why?!!!

It depends on the sponsor, the mags want advertisement for all three makes and is the reason I have not renewed my Diesel Power subscription.

The truck magazines are advertising prostitutes. A big advertising investment buys them favorable comments from their writers.

I'm not even going to waste the time to open the links and read their false praise because I know those tests are always based on acceleration comparisons.

I don't give a hoot about acceleration contests. What matters to me is the low rpm torque of the mighty Cummins that allows me to climb the steepest grades at around 1800 to 2000 rpm or as little as 1600 rpm if I want to let it pull. Peak torque on my cab and chassis tuned Cummins occurs from 1600 to 2700 or 2900 rpm (forgot which. ) On the pickup version peak torque occurs at only 1500 rpm up.

V8 diesels accelerate faster but develop peak torque at higher engine rpm which means greater fuel consumption, faster wear, and shorter service life.

NO thanks to V8 diesels! I'm completely satisfied with my lowly little 305hp and 610 ft. lbs. of torque.

If I want to accelerate fast I take a ride on my Goldwing.

I don't think that anyone could have said it better!!! :-laf

Side issue... I just spoke with an owner of an '11 GMC a few ours ago and he stated that the only reason for his decision was for the smoother ride and didn't care about longevity because he traded all of his trucks off around 30k anyway.

He did admit that the Cummins was WAY better when towing and was quite upset with the need for DEF on the GMC and was gonna dump the 'crap' and tell them where to stick the warranty just to have a decent truck. He also told me that it hauls *****, but wouldn't wanna tow anything heavy with it.

All was from this horses mouth that was smart enough to advise me to never own a Ford even if it was free :-laf

On any of the "Diesel Mags" check to see what manufacturer spends the most money on advertising. This is ALWAYS the winner in these "impartail" trials. Just Follow the Money.

Unfortunatly a lot of the readers have complete faith in this kind of reporting, think that they are making a informed decision in a purchase. And wind up way off the mark of truth. . Sad.
