where does one get a copper gasket with silicon(?)sealler around the water holes. Heard that Don M. had them. not sure if anybody else sold them or if somebody had Don's number, ... thanks, ... reb

I got a CU gasket through Piers and got a can of sealant with it.

found it! the one i want to try is silicon and rubber coated around the water ports, NO LEAKS! well i hope it works. Don M. makes them and he says u retorque the studs once after a dry warm up, and never have to retorque them again! i can't wait to try them. I've tried regular copper head gaskets on SBC blower motors and blown flat heads, and they constantly leak water.

for those that missed that, the member formally known as Don M has developed a copper gasket that has a . 003 layer of polymer around the water and oil holes. it sells for around $250 and HVAC can get you these. Hvac also has a tool to do the O rings with.

Hvac has a tool, Brandon has a tool, so does Piers, and i got one the other day, so if u live near Half moon Bay, Modesto, BC Canada, or near Fresno, CA you got it made, lol! I'm just trying the gasket out. I hope it will work great. I hate water and oil leaks! Can't wait to use that new tool too.

what is meant by a dry warm up ??



sounds scary to me if its what i think it is ...



what company has head studs ???



i think a ported head is in my future , along with twins

Piers sells head studs. a dry warm up is with out water. Nothing wrong with this. Race engines are filled to "stuff" and run with no water at all, ... . 1/4 mile at a time though.

fine, warm up your new copper head gasket with water, ... let me know how much floor sweep u use when Niagra Falls is comming out of the top of the engine. U gotta warm it up without water first, then let it cool, and retorque it.

I'm assuming that the serpentine drive belt is removed for this? This way at least the water pump isn't driven dry... .
