Has anyone had this problem and know the fix. I don't trust dealers here because they can't change oil and get it right.

While driving the ABS and BREAK light came on and won't go off. I have a Y2K with 26,698 Miles. When I stop hard the wheels lock up, no pulsing from the ABS system. I turned the truck on and off 3 times and just get "P DoNE" on ODometer.

Thanks in advance

Can be fixed in about 20 minutes

John, it's the rear wheel speed sensor. It sits on top of the rear diff. and is pretty easy to replace if you want to do it your self. If you do the fix you'll still going to have to take it to the dealer to have the fault code removed from the ECM. The part I think cost about $35 and my dealer only took about 20 minutes to fix it. Good luck and hope you get it fixed.

I just had this problem recently too. Mine was due to the power for my third brake light on the camper shell, it was shorting out. Your sig doesn't say, but if you have a shell w/brake light you might want to look at this too.

I just had mine repaired. I have a 2001 2500 and the sensor that checks for rear tire rotation failed. I only had 11000 miles on my truck when it quit. Rather perplexing. I will warn you though, your truck will lock up its' tires like there is no tomorrow if your problem is the same as mine. I only mention that because it took some time to get used to ABS and it also takes time to get unused to it. I live in San Diego and share the road with total loonies who think every vehicle on the road weighs the same as a Geo Metro and can stop on a dime. I got to give a few idiots a really good look at the front of a Dodge fullsize truck. Anyway just be careful till you get it fixed. Mine was covered under waranttee.
