Just did my test drive and the brake drums stayed cold!!! But..... that is with the shoes backed way off and the ebrake cable very loose. So now I will start adjusting them.

Without rehashing all of the drum bake adjustment threads (I've read them all), do you guys have any special tips?

I plan to leave the ebrake until last... adjust the shoes, then after my pedal comes back up and test drives show no excess heat, then I will adjust the ebrake cable... does that sound reasonable?

That is the right sequence, if you adjust the e-brake first it will be too tight when you adjust the brake. Everyone has their own method, with rears off the ground I adjust each wheel until it is difficult to turn then back off untill it's free, usually 5 to 10 clicks. bg

BG... ... what is the reason for jacking the truck up doing the tighten then back-off procedure? What am I missing? Maybe you do it just to spin the wheels in the end to confirm you loosening was enough?
