I mainly want to know how long they lasted before they DIED. I know many people swap them right off the bat, but I just want to know how long they usually last.

If you feel that this topic is too "bland/vanilla", my apologies.

The CD player in my '97 has just recently gone berzerk. Here are it's symptoms:

-Sometimes it plays CD's, sometimes it just spins for a while before telling me: ERR

-When I try to turn up the volume, sometimes it turns up, sometimes it turns down:rolleyes:

-When I try to advance to the next track in a CD, sometimes it goes forward, sometimes backward, and sometimes: ERR

-When I try to use the presets for the radio, sometimes it actually changes to the correct station, sometimes it just changes to some random frequency, and sometimes it changes to another presets station.

Not long. It died an early death in my 2001, and that was with light use (only used when my son was riding with me)

The radio works, the tape deck works, but the clock keeps changing time, the CD player part of it is busted.

My good buddy Willyslover brought me a gift of the old one out of his wrecked truck, when he and HVAC came to Thunder in Muncie. Thanks Gary ! :D

CD player life span

The infinty cd/radio in my 1995 just went out last week. The cd player was still working great but the circuit board fried for some reason. My wife has a 1997 with the infinity cd/casette/radio and it is still cranking out the tunes.

:)

The original one in the Silver Cloud didn't make it a full year... ... refusing to play some CD's regardless of how many times you reinserted them. Always played the green Sony's I burned in the house though... ...

Now its replacement is beginning to do the same thing about 4 months into its life. I've run a cleaning disc through it-still does it. Occasionally it will refuse to play a CD fresh out of the box-what's up with that? I hope to crutch it along for a while until I can get around to some stereo BOMBs-I'll let my brothers fight over it then! :D
