diesels owned
diesels I've owned
1983 Isuzu pickup bought in 88. I am still driving it to work. It had 62,000 miles when I bought it. The odometer quit in 93 at 185K. We estimate it has to have close to 400,000. Original engine, starter, alternator, pump, injectors, glow plugs!, timing belt, etc. The only thing done to engine was adjust valves and keep oil changed every 3-4 thous with 15w-40. Used all brands, it still runs almost as well as when first bought it. However, it is UGLY. My wife hates it, but it's still the most dependable vehicle we have ever owned, including the 93Dodge Cummins.
Also,
1984 Peugeot 505 turbodiesel wagon.
1986 Mercury Topaz diesel
1980 VW Rabbit diesel
1981 Isuzu diesel pickup 4x4 (still have and drive)
1986 Isuzu pickup turbo diesel. (has been rolled. bought for engine)
and of course my 1993 Dodge Cummins.
My son has owned an 84 Ford and an 83 Chevy diesel. Ford was not good, chevy seems to be pretty good.
You can see I love the four cylinder diesels. If I had my way, I'd have about 8 more of them that I've looked at, buy my wife has other ideas. She does love the Dodge, though.
I am a dieseloholic. Almost everyone who knows me knows that.
I don't understand why everybody doesn't want a diesel, but I realize I'm a little obsessed.
I am currently trying to talk someone out of an 84 Isuzu with only 134000 miles, and it's in such great shape you can't even see the road through the floor of the bed, fender wells, or cab floor.
