I got a 98. 5 that I just bought in july of 2004. It's got 105,000. The only thing so far was the over drive sensor & wireing harness. What are the tell tail signs of a bad lift pump? How long do they last & how much does one cost? Thanks fellas!!

99 passing 375k today, in the shop Angola, IN, Dave's Diesel replacing upper control arms w/ball joints. Reliance Truck & Auto missed this when they replaced the lower ball joints. Only cost me a set of steers each of last two months. Sorta expensive buying new steers every month.

Cheers,

Steve J

All in all..... No matter how hard it fights me, I still love it!!!!

I came into the Cummins family after a full blown Lemon - 97 Chevy 3500, 454

Got my money back after pure hell from GM & Turned my cheek towards Dodge... . Thank god for Chevy's terrible service & Poorly made trucks!!

This is a great family to be in... . & I'll be here for the long haul

25000 miles i have used howes additive and shell rotella from start. i have had no motor problems as of yet,

4 inch exhaust

65hp van akin box

k&n air filter

gauges..... since the first week i bought her.

125,500 miles. 4th lift pump, 2nd injector pump. Ball joints, steering box, 3rd trac bar, shocks, all u-joints except rear of front shaft. Many front pads, second set of rotors, 2nd set of rear shoes. All in all acceptable... front end is iffy, and the lift pump is really pathetic, but it works hard 5 days a week and still looks good after 6 years. I do my own repairs so I'm not dissapointed. At dealer rates I'd be ticked. Greg

99 3500- 129k. I got the truck 3 months ago but warranty put a motor in it @ 99k, and the previous owner put a auto trans in @98k. I had to put in new spider gears @ 127k, but that was because the preveious owner thought it would be funny to do some doughtnuts and a massive burn-out 10 mins before he brought it to me. A week later the rear end came apart.

140,000. Bought it in '02 w/ 75,000 mi. Have not had to change my lift pump as of yet (knock on wood) but I dont know if the prior owner did so.

88K on my '02 2500. 55K this year alone.

No major malfunctions, but I am currently having problems with the timimg on my VP44. Code 0296

The dealer says that the pump is still under warranty, but they won't warranty the pump until they can reproduce the problem at the shop.

:--) What's up with that!

Anyway, my truck has been very reliable on the highway. I drive an average of 3 to 4 hours a day. The Dodge has been a real road warrior.

76,000 glorious trouble-free clattering miles. My family has been on vacation for a week with my wife's car and I'm having diesel withdrawl. :(

52,000 on my 2002 only replaced one steering gear box warranty, it started leaking soon as I brought it home 16miles on it.
