Ive owned my 98 12V for a while now. One of my friends liked it so he went diesel shopping. He called me up, said he bought a ford! He got a 2001 psd 7. 3 F-350 single wheel 4-door. Oh well, at least its a diesel, I said. So one day he wanted to race (he was pullin a small empty single axle trailer, I was pullin my 24' enclosed trailer full). I kept sayin no. Finally he just decided to leave me. Well, I gave mine some gas and kept up pretty darn well. not bad for about 6,000lbs difference. about a month ago, I got my #11 plate. He then decided he needed a chip. he bought the superchip programmer. Friday night, I was pulling my enclosed trailer again with a 1972 340 challenger Rally in it. I see him in my mirror closing in. He gets next to me, on a 4 lane road. the road turns to 2 lanes in about 1,000'. He is empty, by the way. He tries to beat me to the bottleneck. Im in fourth (5-speed) at about 45mph. I floor it. He floors it (auto) and I hear his down shift. Mine makes full boost, and I actually pull away! Man was I proud. He did admit later that he was tryin to beat me. He must have one of the sick power strokes or something, cause I was pullin about 6,500lbs. anyways, I was really proud of my truck.

there's a guy at work that has a 2001 7. 3 with an auto transmission that wants to race me and put 500 bucks down... think i can beat him with my current mods? red light to red light?

Chris, he'll have an advantage with an auto. How far apart are the red lights - far enough that you'll have to shift 3 or 4 times?

I've never raced him from a stop light empty. I have however raced a 97 ford with a 460 auto and 4. 10's. It runs real strong. He leaves me by a few lenghts off the line, but I soon catch up (around 65ish, in fourth). I was also leaving in first gear, and only had my stock plate slid foward. If I was to leave in second, I am pretty sure I could walk him the whole way.

I would say go for it. I know I would race the psd that I raced, empty, and gaurantee I would win, and all I have is a #11 plate. Again, I think his psd is a sick one though. Besides, you have a pretty strong setup. as long as your tires hook, you shold be fine I think.

doug, he wants to do it off the carslile pike but i wanted to be professional and do it at a track. he says "i dont have time to settle this at a track!" oh well! sounds like he's not very confident and a bit too cocky!

The Carlisle Pike is probably not a very good place to do that. I think the police watch that pretty well. You need to find someplace that isn't watched very much - and have someone drive down the road before you race to make sure they're aren't any cops patrolling.

how did i know you would chime in there somewhere greg. how'd you do down at the maryland drags the other weekend? i cought a glimpse of the video you had posted..... i might race ya for sh*ts and giggles, but i might have to think twice about pink slips... lol

LOL Chris!!! :D

I didn't do bad. Did a 12. 95 @ 106. 9 but I'm having serious traction problems in the first 60' :{ Need to add some more "stuff" LOL!!!
