Well I was right on the edge of having too much power for the stock clutch in my 99. Well this weekend I didn't fall over the edge I think I jumped.

I stacked an Edge EZ on with my Power Max 2 and 275hp injectors and boy did that ever slip the clutch. :p It really did make a big difference in performance though. The truck really comes to life once it gets boost now. No big deal though, I can just turn the PM2 of until Briar gets my clutch. (Yea right):D I haven't been able to leave the PM2 off for more than 5 minutes yet. Oo.

This should keep me happy for a couple months. ;)

Thanks Justin

This is an unsolicited response...

I changed a clutch out for a friend in a 2001 to a South Bend. New clutch works great. However, after inspecting the old pressure plate closely, it looks as if my friend could have just bought an upgraded (metalic or ceramic) disc, throw out bearing and pilot bearing and reused the same pressure plate. Now he plans to go no further than a EZ on power upgrades. For more aggressive bombing, what I just described may not work for long.

The above, FWIW, is just my opinion.

I love my EZ. So, before I got and get myself big injectors, I'll want to do the clutch, right? Are there a lot of options for the manual transmission?

You can do that

You should be fine with an EZ and a set of 275hp injectors but anything more than that and you'll probible need a new clutch.

This place is one of the best so I here. www.southbendclutch.com ask for Peter he will take care of ya. :)

Big D, if that PM2 don't keep you happy for too long ;) and you don't have the $$$ for larger injectors, you could always have it reprogrammed by TST for the PM3 remote. You need to check the back of the TST box and see if you have the phone jack ( for lack of the proper name  ). If you have that phone type slot on the back of the box, it will cost somewhat over $100. 00 for the upgrade. I did this with my older PM3 Comp. box. It came from Enterprise as a single switch ( 'KILL' or 'NO KILL') box. I wouldn't get the comp. version if I was to do it again, levels 7-9 are way too radical and very hard on the VP44 IMHO. A standard PM3 would be sweet with 9 levels of very predictable power to choose from.

That's just what I was thinkin

That's exactly what I want to do. :p I looked at my PM2 and it doesn't have the data port on the back so I have to buy a new PM3 with the remote. :( Mark said he would cut me a deal on a new one though since I'm a repeat customer. ;) Plus I think if I go with anything bigger than the 275's I might have EGT problems when towing heavy loads. Peirs said the 275's are fine until you get over 400hp then you've got to step up to something bigger.

What did you think of your EZ when you hooked it up? I thought mine made a huge improvement on the bottom end.

I hope Barkley's doing good.

Thanks Darrell, Barkley is home and apparently doing okay, seems like it's going to be a long road to recovery. If she makes it another 2 days we should be in the clear.

I had the EZ before any other performance mods. , I was surprised at the kick in the pants I received as well. I never tried runnning the TST without the EZ. Have fun, I'm sure that SBC will hold what you throw at her
