The truck and mods are in the sig. Im wanting to know if im getting full fuel because it doesnt smoke a lot. I was thinking that I would need a big turbo or twins to clear it up but as long as im over 10 lbs it doesnt smoke , maybe a light haze. I towed a 30 ft 5th wheel with a 5000lb tractor on it and it doesnt really get hot. Is there a way to check or adjust the afc when the plate isnt in it? Does anyone know a shop close to southern Indiana I could take it to to get checked out or could walk me throught it?

Does anyone have the part number for 370s? I got a set from city diesel and put them in. Not sure but they could have sent the wrong set? Im going to pull one out and check it tomarrow.

Did you just do those mods with no smoke, or has it been like that for a while? It doesn't sound like an injector problem to me, but I have been wrong before.

mebe the no plate? could have damaged the rack/etc so there is a problem with travel. . i dunno im no pump wiz. . you definetly should be rollin the coal tho

I agree with SEmerson, the AFC arm probably isn't moving. I have a valet switch which stops the AFC housing from getting a boost signal and the AFC arm doesn't travel. With the valet switch enabled it will leave a slight puff then clear up completely. With the switch disabled I can black out a lane on the highway. Same with EGT's, enabled I can only hit 1100 tops, disabled I can peg the EGT gauge.

Check the AFC boost signal line for cracks or splits, any kind of leak.

Ok here are the numbers off of the injector on teh top is 7596 then on teh body is KDAL 59P14 591 18 then the tip number is 7597. The only reason I think it is the injectors is that I didnt get any more smoke when I switched the injectors. It does smoke but only when I lug it or take off really fast but it clears up after a second.

Which one is it, how do I check it , and how do I fix it? I thought the arm was not used when the plate was out. Could I put a vallet switch in it w/o the plate? Thanks for all the help everyone

akron,, man, mine does the samething ,, and i got my injectors from city diesel to,, i'm still scratching my butt on that to ,,,but getting 60# springs, pump timed, and 4k pump springs put in this week,,,, just wanted to put my 2 cents in on that same problem you have to..... :( :( :(

There will be only 1 line that hooks up to the back of the AFC housing, this is the AFC boost signal line. My stock one is metal, but I believe 97-up or something like that had a plastic line that was prone to cracking. The AFC arm works just like it would as stock even if you don't have a plate, and yes you can still run a valet switch with no plate. With no boost signal the AFC arm isn't traveling to allow more fuel, thus the reason for lack of smoke and power and higher EGT's.

Ok I took the line off and it does have a crack in it. Where do I buy the metal one? Also would the crack vent some boost off because I made 40 lbs before and after the injectors were put in. I thought the injectors would have raised my pressure a little. Is there a place to check those injector numbers? The tips are 7597s.

You're not making as much boost because not as much fuel is going in. Yeah it's a slight leak but nothing that would make a difference as far as boost dropping. Replace the line with a rubber vacuum hose for now. As for the metal line, cummins would probably have it if you went there and asked for the boost signal line to the AFC housing for a 94'. The CPL they'll want, just tell them 1550.

matthug I replaced the line with some fuel hose and there was no difference, then I unhooked it and there was no difference. I still need to find the metal line. Cummins is not helpful down here at all, they wouldnt order me the metal one because my serial number didnt come with one.
