I just had a lab analysis run on my engine oil, and the results were wear on the piston rings and cylinder walls. Does anyone have any advice on how long til something bad happens or should I go to a diesel shop ASAP?

How do you know when the report only mentiones Iron/Copper/Lead/Aluminum/Chromium/Tin/Nickel/Silver.

Chromium is probably the only item that will narrow down rings (top ring). BTW do OUR top rings have a coating of Chromium?????????????????????

Iron is cylinder walls along with 100 other items... ... ... ... ... ...

You simply have to obtain a base reading over time. Period.

Yes and have it towed..... it will never make under it's own power!!

As Scott said... . a single oil sample result is only a snapshot... you need to have results over time to be able to put together a true picture of what is happening.

You should see the sheets I have from the brand new Cummins 6B I put in my boat a few years ago. It was scary in itself but it was pretty much normal.

File your results and look at them again in a year when you hev your next oil sample results.
