looked into my front passenger side fender well as I was walking by my truck yesterday, my bottom turbo is visible, and I noticed some oil residue on the compressor housing leaking from the boost tube that feeds the secondary turbo. It was a small amount, I wiped it clean and went for a ride (couple hours around town), this morning more oil, less than a quarter teaspoon but being saturated with soot it looks worse.

The boost clamp is tight however that's not really the issue... now I will make sure both turbo drain tubes are unrestricted... crap! Going to have to pull all the piping to determine which turbo is burping oil, I believe the large primary but who knows. I probably have about 15k miles on this compound setup(R700's), trucks sits alot, but I do not believe things stop leaking once they start #@$%!#@$%!#@$%!#@$%!

Raining outside today, so will have to wait for better weather. Can't believe this, had a SPS62 bite the dust within 2k miles, now maybe this S400 BW(or super b), I always let the egt's cool down before shutting off the motor, so it's not neglect. Hopefully my entire intake is not already contaminated, that was a tough clean up last time.

What, nobody wants to come help??? Just kidding :-laf.

Some of you know I'm kind of in the process of re-locating, most of my tools and large possessions have my new garage full, and it's 130 miles away. We have open house, and realtor meetings here in Spokane, so kind of stuck. Truck wont fit in my Spokane garage anyways, not laying out in the rain/snow/hail this time of year.

Lucky for me, I am about a mile from Jason Burton's Shop (northwest customs), went and paid Jason a visit today, he looked it over and believes it is just a turbo seal, but which one... He understands my predicament and was kind enough to squeeze me in next Tuesday, said a couple of days, only because he has to outsource the seal repair. As much as I hate letting other Folks work on my truck, I believe I'm in good hands or it wouldn't be happening.

It's always something...

Got my truck back from Jason. S474 had a bearing that was not in tolerance with the housing, it was modified for larger bearings and new seals, the Super B also had to be dismantled as it was unclear which charger was actually leaking because of residual oil, it also has new seals.

Thanks go out to Jason, Good Job!

When I contacted BD by email and explained the issue, with the low mileage on their chargers and burping oil... First, they did respond, I'll give them credit for that, second, their response was my air filter was dirty or restricted. I emailed them yesterday with the findings, I'm sure I will not get a response this time.

Happy Easter,
Jess

And that will likely be the MOST help you will get from them.

Glad you had somebody close that you could trust to fix it right. Worrying about fixing it right is worse than worrying about what can go wrong.

Glad to hear you got it fixed without too much inconvenience to you. Moving is always fun. :) Shad

This move is definitely a step forward, and we are under no time constraints, but you are certainly correct, it's always funnnnnn.

I was really nervous/anxious/paranoid, about allowing anybody to do this work on my truck, other than DTT building my trans, no one but myself has touched my truck without me watching.

I've known who Jason was since I purchased my truck in late 03, he (is diesel thunder) sponsored Diesel Thunder every year, always willing to share his knowledge. Still (ask my wife), I was anal worrying about my truck. Jason did something I would never have thought of, he was able to pull the inducer cover, wheel, and journal housing from both chargers, leaving the turbine covers, hot pipe and down pipe all intact, on the truck.

As far I can see, everything is back together as it was before the repair, piping, hose clamps all lined up, I spent most of Easter morning after Mass, under/over, looking for anything out of whack, all is good.

I now Trust and Recommend Jason/Northwest Customs!
