I have a question, thinking about buying the edge (70 HP) or bully dog pup down loader next week, what are the long term effects of useing one of these? How long have some of you folks been running HP boxes? Have you had good luck with them?I am planning on owning my truck for quite some time,so just trying to do some long term planning. Thanks for any info. coobie

Permanent smile formation... endangering others with 2nd hand smoke... :-laf

Seriously, though, I think for you a very long time! I noticed you've been asking tons of questions about all the various angles of performance upgrades so it sounds like you're a fairly cautious person, which is a good thing.

From my own limited BOMBing experiences I have been finding one thing leads to another - gauges then chip then turbo then another chip then clutch then fuel... I don't have experience with the EZ, but personally found that when I had the Bullydog pup on the extreme program that an upgraded turbo and clutch would be a wise investment if I wanted to be able to run continuously on that program.

If you were to post the same question on the 2nd gen forums you'd probably get answers from members with over 100,000 successful miles. I guess it all depends on how much you respect the available power. And even then some members are having bad luck with STOCK trucks.

I am kind of leaning toward the bully dog pup at this point. I would stay with the 90 hp performance mode. Thanks for your reply. coobie :)

Coobie.

I was thinking of the same thing you are. Talked to a number of folks, here on the TDR and a number of the Dodge Dealers, here in town.

Since I'm a bit concerned about the warranty, especially, with some of the "injector issues" some of us have been having. I've decided to hold-off, for awhile.

I kind of liked the fact that the BDDL didn't raise preasure, that much. But, the downloader leaves a substantial footprint in the trucks computer which, can easily be seen by the dealer, probably causing your warranty claim to be denied.

The EZ, apparently, raises preasure, only. Above the 40-60 hp. levels, it can cause the common rail preasure valve to releave the excess preasure and that valve isn't designed to be worked on a regular basis. It could, possibly, cause premature failure of the valve. The use of the EZ is supposed to be able to be seen by the dealer if they try to look for it. If you remove the box before taking it in to the dealer, you might be able to get away with it's use if the dealer doesn't closely look for it.

From what I understand, a lot of the dealers don't much care if you put aftermarket mufflers or aircleaners on the truck. Just as long as you have a muffler and aircleaner. Guages are OK, also.

They seem to start "getting heartburn" when you mess with the fuel delivery.

Hope this helps. Joe F. (Buffalo)
