covington is usually a good pull and a great track. we'd love to see red's infamous "ol smokey" there.

Hey guys, Olee Poole just emailed me and said that he had 10 sets of ARP head studs in stock that he would sell for $400/set. That's a helluva deal if anyone's interested. Pass the word around.

With the guages installed I installed a home-ground #10 plate. What a difference! I don't think my waste gate is opening. It'll peg my 30psi boost guage QUICK! I blew the left lower intercooler boot off Sunday.

Anybody have an idea on my waste gate? I'm new to this bombing game and I don't know how these things are supposed to work.

Thanks,

Scott

Hey Andy - I don't know if you've made a decision about your clutch situation yet, but Olee Poole is running a 10% off sale on all South Bend clutches. Thought you might like to know.

I've run upwards of 45psi boost and NEVER blown a stock boot. I don't understand how after some people, like yourself, post such things.

Well there's two ways you can do the wastegate. The easier is with the turbo OFF the truck. The harder is leaning over the pass. fender with a mirror looking at the WG through the mirror. I've done it a couple of times, you get quicker on adjustments each time. That C-clip comes out easier each time too. :-laf

All you have to do is remove the C-clip holding the rod on the actuator, loosen the lock nut, thread the rod out longer and reinstall. You will probably have to use compressed air to actuate the WG to R & R the rod. ;)

ive never blown a stock boot at up to 60 psi of boost. i would check the clamps and make sure that they are all tight. sometimes they loosen up.

Sorry guys, I guess I should have pulled more of the original post into my quote. It was the driver side boot on the intercooler that I had off when I did my vacuum pump seals. I probably didn't get it back on good and in stock configuration never made enough boost to blow it off.

I need to get a higher reading boost guage. I bought the 30psi guage on the premise of "10psi per 100 HP" line figuring I would never make over 300 HP. I'm worried about blowing the head gasket or overloading the stock turbo. I don't have the money right now to replace it.

Thanks,

Scott

I'd say yoru are right scott, that you didn't get it back on good. It's most often the passenger side lower boot blows, if one does blow. Definitely need a higher reading gauge. Them gauges are your pulse readings for whats going on.

Guys I just talked to Andy on the cell. He got caught in the big "expired subscription" deal up at the top of the page. This is also while he is on vacation, so you may not see him posting for a couple of days. I'm gonna let Robin & Steve know about it though.

Well I just got done helping a young fella do an alternator swap on a '91 Mitisubishi right in the middle of the University of Memphis parking lot. :-laf

I was walking along and saw him leaning over it with the hood popped sort of shaking his head so I dropped in and asked if he needed any help. At first he just asked to borrow some wrenches but I kinda got the idea that he didn't know where to start. He already had someone remove the old one so we slapped the new one on and away he went!

Oh yeah forgot to mention I've traded the HX55 off. A buddy in Indiana emailed me and offered me a straight up trade for his HTT HTB2 and I accepted it.

Can't wait to get it on there. I know it will be an awsome charger, but I bet I won't have enough air for all of my fuel. Will probably send it to HTT to get transformed into a SP66 over winter if I can ever get "Blackie" back from Dilbert. :-laf

If it's got the 14cm2 housing without the clipped wheel then it should work okay. But if it doesn't, that's one good thing about HTT - they'll upgrade you to the next step up for just a couple hundred bucks.

I think you'll like it - I've been pretty pleased so far. I believe mine still needs a little wastegate tuning, but I'll take care of that next weekend.

PLEASE READ - Fall Fish Fry - October 29th

Hey guys - Andy posted a thread about our 2nd Annual Fall Fish Fry on the 29th at my place and I really need to get a gauge on how many people seriously think they can attend. I need to know how much fish to be getting and stuff like that.

Several people have already said they can't make it on the 29th so if everyone could check their calendars and post on the thread below whether or not you can come, I would appreciate it.

If only 3 or 4 people are planning on coming like last year, we may figure something else out in the interest of time and money.

Here's the link to the thread:
