Good Dodge Mechanic in N. Alabama?

Emissions

Got to go for emissions testing in January. Who all has gone through this recently? Did you have to remove mods such as an Edge EZ? Any advice?

Thanks... Jay

You dont have to take anything off your truck unless it sets a code. As long as you haven't cut your cat off you should be fine(if they even look for it). I took my 87 Ford with the 6. 9 diesel through and it passed while it was sitting there smoking in the building :-laf Pretty much just another way to get some money from you, its a joke.

Mark

Jay, I went through emissions with the EZ off but I don't think it was necessary. As long as the ECM does not have codes set it should pass. They did not sniff test my truck. I think the 12 valve guys have to though. Give it a try as is and smoke'm out as you leave! :D

Truck is up on lift with flywheel at machine shop. New clutch waiting to go in!

Hmm... . I passed with . 4 out of a possible 10!#ad

Clutch

Got the clutch put in with out any problems. It took about 3-4 hours to take out with some bs'n and air horn blow'n. And a liitle over 3 to be back on the way home! :) A million thanks to Robert(RacerRob). It was done at his shop with me assisting. The right tools made it fairly easy. Now for more HP! :D

Thanks Scott. I went over there and posted my fix, but after seeing his pic, his CR truck doesn't have the little tapped holes like my truck does. He had no choice but to do the plug.

Reading that whole thread has me really nervous about the pressure levels in that location. I'm fearing a blown head gasket. Parts should be here tomorrow for me to fix, so we'll see I guess.

Alright guys I need help sourcing a certain Springfield Armory pistol I wish to buy. So far I can get prices from everyone, but once they call their wharehouse its "we can't get any"

What I'm looking for is a Springfield Armory GI Lightweight Champion 45 cal 4" barrel, the model # is PW9143L. I would also seriously consider the normal GI Champion in 45 cal 4" barrel model # is PW9142L.

If you can find either one of these for me let me know ASAP as I'm ready to purchase with cash in hand. 615-478-0708

Mark,

Call Dennis or Mark at Guns & Leather in Greenbrier. He said he had a used one. Their number is 615-643-4865.

Scott I just got off the phone with them. They have a regular GI Champion used like my 2nd option I was looking for, but I found a new Lightweight(1st choice) for CHEAP through a Mid-Tenn member!! Thanks Stephen(DieselNutz) for taking the time to track one down for me at a :--) :--) :--) price!!

Already called Hunts in Hendersonville and they will recieve it for me, dad's gonna call and get the ball rolling in the AM since I'll be at work. Oo. :D

Yeah, I think the only way you can flunk with diesel is to have a busted ring and a bleeding turbo and a couple of drizzling injectors. The only probed one of my stacks.

The didn't even look under mine--which came with a "cat". I don't think they opened the filler door either. Dunno about codes--doesn't sound logical... they'd have to know every makers' codes for emissions related devices wouldn't they?

But then--watch out for them tightening down the specs a little bit at a time.

I wonder what mine would read on a cold morning 30 seconds after startup?

Oh and I forgot to tell yall about the 1/2 tonner with a 1G engine in it on eBay. Maybe a good truck for the girls to drive. :p

Found several Cummins trucks listed under "1500" on ebay. Silly Sellers.

Here's the 1st gen 1/2-ton conversion. http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/Dodg...31831QQitemZ4600729799QQrdZ1QQsspagenameZWDVW

Gives me an idea for a super sleeper--put a 600horse twinner into one of those 1500's with "Hemi" splashed all over it! :-laf :-laf :-laf

Wouldn't you feel a little dirty when a gasser "hemi" put his sights on you? :D

Saw a red 2500 4x4 QC 3rd Gen. with commercial plates on Sunday night around 8 p. m. Was headed north on 231 (Chucrch Street) in the 'Boro and turned off by the 'Yota dealer. Good sounding truck with a TDR sticker in the back window. Haven't seen this truck around before. Who is the lucky owner of that rig? I was in my car or would have done a little playing...

Jay

I'd have to say that was probably Justin Bryant. Did it have chrome H2 Wheels?

... and since nobody has anything much to talk about, here's another pic of my $6000 truck. She's looking better and better every day.

It was me! Heading to the Awful Waffle for Supper. Glad you were'nt in your truck; I hate getting spanked by those 2nd Gens!!

Hey guys - I've got to put in a good word for Doug Smith at Performance Diesel Warehouse . He's who I got my cam and valve springs from and I want everyone to know what a good guy he is to deal with.

Swapping these valve springs requires a special compressor from Cummins. Doug told me that he paid around $40 for the one he has a few years ago. Well it turns out that the tool is now around $135  so I called him and he had just learned that same information from Don M. Well long story short, Doug said he needed a new tool anyway and he actually called Cummins in Memphis, ordered the tool and paid for it, and let me pick it up before I left for break! He said I could have first crack at it and to just ship it to him when I got it done. Now how's that for after-sale service?

Anyway, I just had to pass that along and I hope some of you can do business with him in the future. He's the kind of vendor we need to keep around.

And I changed my valve springs today so I could get that tool back to him. Cousin Todd still hasn't moved that stinkin' Chevelle out of the way so the cam is still waiting on me. I may end up doing that thing on the carport if he doesn't get a move-on.

Andy - the truck is lookin' good!

Oh and do any of you know anything about a 4. 3L / 5-speed combo in a '92 Chevy Silverado? My nephew just turned 16 and we've found one with 159,000 miles on it. I know the 4. 3 is a solid motor but what is the average life expectancy of one? It's a one owner truck and appears to be in great shape. It drove and ran really well tonight, but I'm gonna get it tomorrow and do a thorough visual inspection in the daylight.
