Wow! I can't believe how good that thing looks for only $6K!! :--)

You sure you don't want to make me a good deal on those BFG's? I need tires ;) :-laf

Looking forward to the Indoor 'Boro pull in another week... ... I haven't been to a pull in 3 months..... I was watching my Sony Super 8 tapes last week because I was having withdrawls!!#ad
:-laf

Also I'm seriously considering a auto conversion later on in the year?

Hans, I had a 4. 3 Auto 95 silverado King cab that I sold my mom. Had 86,000 miles on it when I sold it to her. It now has 250,000 and hasn't never had anything but brakes and tires put on it and still runs it's factory 24mpg. It doesn't like hills, as it'll downshift, but it does fine in the west tn, little flatter there :D They are very good motors. Seen a few go 200,000 plus with no wrenches ever turned on them. They are real fun in a little S-10, I've drove a few of those.

Hey that sounds good Gap. If he can get 50,000 - 75,000 miles out of it that would be excellent. It's a one owner truck and I'm pretty sure it's always been serviced regularly. The truck looks to be very clean. He's asking $2,900 and he'll probably come off of it a little. The interior is good and the exterior has the normal Chevy flaking of paint, but it's on the doors instead of the tailgate and fenders. It's a regular cab, stepside 2WD.

Hey I met a fella by the name of Will Robertson from Atwood at the UP rail yard in Marion, Arkansas yesterday morning. Asked him if he knew any Arringtons from up that way and he knew Red. He drives a teal-colored Kenworth W900L that's always spotless. I understand his family are big farmers up there. You know him?

Oh and do any of you know anything about a 4. 3L / 5-speed combo in a '92 Chevy Silverado?

Hans, they're great little trucks. I bought a new '91 GMC with the 4. 3L/5-speed before I bought my Dodge. In the 10+ years I had it I had to put valve stem seals in it, an A/C condenser, and a few alternators, but other than that it was great. It had 310K on it when I sold it for $3K. The guy drove it for a year and sold it to a fella that took it to Mexico for $3500. It had 330K on it then. I bought the Cummins in hopes of getting a lot more service out of it than the GMC. We'll see!

Hans-- a little off subject, but I had a GMC S-15 with the 4. 3/ 5 SPD. It was a 91 or so and I ran the heck out of it and it took it all in stride. I took it off roading (did I mention it was 2 WD?), ran through a ditch head on down a gravel road, lots of other stuff and it never gave me any problems mechanically. Hope this will help ya some with the engine/ transmission combo...

Mark, isn't the indoor pull the 13th and 14th? We still need to get something together for a convoy down that way... Let me know.

Yeah those dates are correct. Nick said he thought the pull was @ 6PM, might check the thread he started on it. I get off work @ 4PM if I'm not out on delivery, and I plan on heading over to Anna's and getting her ready to leave shortly after I get off (she takes forever ESPECIALLY when I'm in a hurry  )

You could meet me at that Chriopractic Clinic @ the Corner of Hale Ave. & 109S since Anna lives on Hale. ;)

I will talk to Mark (Landscraper) this week and see if he wants to run over with us, heck we may even get Terry to meet us @ I-40/840 and run over together. I know a lot of Mid-Tenn is supposed to be there, a few of my KYDTR brethren will be there, and my parents are coming too since they don't get to many of these pulls because they are so far away. Oo.

Emissions

Had the truck tested yesterday. Ya'll were right, piece of cake. Tested it with the TTPM on it and it passed with flying colors (0. 2 out of 10).

This was copied from the website sponsoring the pull. (http://www.southernmotorsports.net) I will only go one night, so my question is, which night would be more excitin'? I would rather watch the stock, or close to it, trucks pull. But if everyone is going one night over the other, let me know and I'll tag along too.

Shay

P. S. - it won't separate the nights listed for some reason, check out the site and click on "upcming events" to see it.

Then you need to go Friday night Shay. The Smoker Tractors & Pro Stock trucks will make up more of a class then the Open class trucks on Saturday... . and I don't know if they are running tractors on Sat. ;)

Heres some pics of the train i saw in hendersonville melting the motor. I assume the front engine went down and the second one was doing all the work. Eventually all the black smoke started turning to white a little ways down the track.

Hey jsikes, glad you had better luck than me, on jan first in smyrna, 1st lady tried to sell me commercial tags after i said my truck was 11k and should be exempt, i said i was not in business, then she said she could "help me out" by selling me farm tags, i said i was not a farmer, then she said due to the new laws (which i asked to see a copy of or if they had any written guidlines, which she could not produce) i could not get regular tags w/o going through emissions test and refused to sell me tags. i went and waited in line for an hour smelling a little like french fries when the tech came up, scanned my vin, and said i was exempt. he gave me a certificate just like you get for a gasser with my vin, except hand written that i was exempt due to overweight, and DID NOT charge me! i went back and another person helped me, and said i did not need the emissions certificate, and sold me regular tags with no problem as i expected all along. next time, i'll ask another clerk if i have problems. rob.

there willl be tractors sat nite. super farms, pro stocks, hot farms, and light super stocks. the trucks that will be pulling fri nite are single turbos. but no where near street stock.

racerob - unless things have changed, I believe it used to be that technically any vehicle that grosses more than 9,000 GCWR or has more than a 3/4 ton payload rating isn't supposed to run a "regular" tag. Was that what the lady was trying to tell you? No one in TN pays attention to that regulation and most everyone I know runs a regular car tag. There's a few (including me) that have a joint tag to cover any extra trailer weight. I got one because we used to haul the race cars out of state and I wanted to be covered.

Before the pull that we all went to out near Gap's, I called the license place here in Gallatin and asked them about it cause I was gonna be towing a trailer that had a business name down the side with Mark's Truck on it and I wanted to make sure that there wasn't going to be a problem. I did let her know that I was a Police Officer so she wouldn't just blow some smoke up the ole @&$ and she told me that as long as I wasn't pulling something that had to do with the business that we didn't have to have any special tags for it. Is this changed with the new year or something? And the weight thing, is any vehicle with a Gross Vehicle Weight Rating of 10,500 or more is exempt from getting the Marta certificate, although some counties don't even do that, so who knows what is up with it all.

Just my $. 02!!!

Got Smoke?, LandScraper and I are going to meet somewhere in the Gallatin area to convoy down, just let us know where everyone else is going to meet and we'll see what's up. Got Smoke? said something to me about picking up some tires so we might just end up meeting you all there. Let us know either way just in case.
