I am on my 6th Dodge truck since '90 and many Mopar cars prior to that. The last two have been an '04 3500 SRW CTD 4x4 and the current is an '09 2500 2x4 CTD. The '04 had the lift pump, water pump, front left hub assembly, from drive shaft, rear drive shaft and the heater box control valve replaced under warranty before 90,000 miles. More work was done on it than all the previous 1500 Rams gas trucks combined. I have 10,500 on the new one and no problems so far. I do like the 6 speed AT but hate the ride. And please don't bother saying its a truck. Dodge should have had separate bump stops for the overload springs like the do on the 3500 (and Ford on their 2500). I flipped the overload spring over (don't need it) and it rides a lot better. I also carry 480 pounds of weight to smooth things out. It still doesn't ride a smooth as a Ford or GMC but it's better.
I personally have not issues with Ford or GM. Our construction company has over 40 Ford diesels, 8 Dodge and 5 GMC. Engine wise we see no major difference. We get about 350,000 miles out of all of them. We have replaced more AT's in the Dodges but besides that there doesn't seem to be much mechanical difference. The Ford's do get more $ when we resell them and both the Ford's and GMC's ride a hell of a lot smoother. And the Ford's get better MPG overall. With that said I'll still buy Mopar's. Its like a religion. You learn it from your elders whether it's right or wrong.
