DING! DING! DING!

WE HAVE A WINNER!!!

Everyone should try driving 55mph one single time... its hard, but it works.

And to all those that think I'm making this mileage up, keep thinking that... I'll still be getting those actual numbers at the pump. It amazes me that people think you can fake hand calc'd numbers. . . you fill up, divide the number of miles driven from the last fill up point to this fill up point with the total gallons used, and viola! Miles per gallons. Just because you can't get those numbers, doesn't mean no one can.

I don't doubt that those are your numbers, as I said before I'm surprised that more people don't have similar numbers, but keep in mind that anyone can pad or fake hand calculated numbers, its called lying:rolleyes:

The difference is I have my receipts from point A to point B proving my mileage. Kinda hard to fake receipts.

I think Steve can attribute those great mpg numbers from his higher mileage and all that clean oil he runs.

This spring was the first time I broke 20 again with ULSD. With my truck I have to try, to break 20 mpg. Thats also lots up and down PA driving though. Mostly 18-20 depending on the driving.

Steve, in two weeks I will be hauling about 10k out to Wisconsin and running empty on the way back, I'll post some numbers then.

At 60mph, what rpms are you at, I forget what size tires you have. I run 65mph max everywhere with the numbers I reported at 1800 rpms with my tires.

In two weeks I should be on the return trip from Washington...

At 60mph, I'm turning around 2000RPM... if I run 55mph, I'm running around 1850RPM. Anything below 2000RPM seems to be my sweet spot for mileage. I'd really like to see what I could get with something like a 3. 42 rear...

The tires are 265s... 70psi front, 60psi rear.

Receipts are not hard to fake, and especially any receipt on the internet should be taken with a grain of salt. If a person wanted to skew their numbers all they'd have to do is forget they put a few extra gallons of fuel in somewhere along the way, or perhaps not fill the tank up full and then take their numbers, or add a few extra miles to the tank, or make a simple 'mathematical error' etcetera. The possibilities are almost endless, that is one of the issues of the cyber-web state of reality. I could take a 20mpg truck and have it show 35+mpg real easy, but I pity the those who'd believe that to be hard certified truth just because they can see it on paper. This is where random sampling, blind studies and the like come into play in scientific communities.

Well then, everyone... I guess you can all say that my numbers are fake then.

No, I wouldn't say that, personally I think you're above that. However, perhaps you can see why some people do not willingly believe your mileage claims. I've already established (for the 3rd time now) I fully believe that those numbers are accurate.

Steved, has your speedo been recalibrated for the larger tires?

I'd like to see an average fuel mileage number for most 3. 73 equipped truck... I'll bet most of them can't get hand-calculated numbers close to mine.

Here's all my data since the first fillup. Average is currently 19. 11 mi/gal.

Average flow rate is 1. 89 gal/hr.

Just to post this, since no one believes these numbers anyway...

Round trip to Washington and back to Pennsylvania, including the 200 miles of city driving at the TriCities and a hellish run from Minneapolis to Des Moines (averaged over 80mph outrunning storms), averaged 20. 1mpg.

5571 total miles on 276. 647 gallons of fuel.

So it CAN be done...

Keep that truck! You've posted some transmission blues stories in the past. Maybe look into a G-56 conversion, but keep that truck!:):)

nfkfirefighter

Finally, a guy who is honestly telling his mileage.
I know 10 guys who have these trucks from 03s to 07s, 2500s and 3500s, standard, quad, mega, both auto, and 5600, g56 all agree as they read these mileage theads that you guys all must tell great fishing stories.

Agree!
'05 SRW 4:10 (auto) best -driving same rpm ranges/speed (60 mph)- would be about
one to two miles less that the 6 speed, 16mpg boys.

Steved - has a perfect mods combo or a unique 3rd gen truck!
