I thank you should keep it see if any one is getting any better milage. That is some very good milage. Don't let any one tell you any thing else IT IS A KEEPER-----BEN

I if you averaged 60mph you was getting on it. It is hard to average a 60mph.

Set the cruise, sit back and relax... not hard at all.

Keep in mind, I rarely get out of the seat on these trips... I only stop to fuel every 400 miles or so... try to do the rest stop/fuel/food all in one.

ya! trade it. get a new one 13mpg down hill tail wind and not a lot you can do to change it.

I get 20-25 empty 62-65 mph highway no freeway. 06 quad. 3. 73 auto. over 70,15-19 mpg, about the same with trailer.

2 things to think about when calculating mileage... catalytic converters were put on diesels starting in 04, second, ultra low diesel fuel. Engines (other than 07. 5 & up made for higher sulfur content. You lose about 1% on fuel due to lower BTU value (less then 8 PPM sulfur). And last if you get a new diesel you also have a exhaust filter to put up with (EPA stuff). You have to clean them every 100K or so and can only run UL fuel. With my last 2 diesels pulling 7500 LBs I average 13 to 15. 17 unloaded. dj

Wow i wish i could get those kind of numbers. My best is just under 20 mpg and i got the 3. 73's. But then agian i kinda have a heavy foot:-laf... ... .

The last I knew, ULSD had a higher BTU content?? I have seen in my mileages that ULSD actually runs better and produces better numbers than LSD. I have ran both from time to time... ULSD gives better numbers in this trcuk than LSD.

The cat has little to do with it in reality... I posted a repeatable 21mpg when the truck had less than 5k on the clock (driving across the texas panhandle)... just some food for thought. And that was PRE-MODs.

My 06 gets as bad as 9 in the winter with lots of high idle time and recently got 26. 4 mpg on a roung trip to Anchorage and back. That was 900 miles of mostly highway and 4 out of 6 days with short trips in the city.

Yup, for sure trade it! I mean, why drive what you've got when you can get mileage like this (logged almost every tank over the past 15k miles):

Fuel Economy

MPG

Avg. (all time): 13. 2

Avg. (Last 3 fills): 12. 6

Max: 16. 1

Min: 9. 7

Operating Cost

$/mi.

Avg. : $0. 32

I'm right there with JCleary. Although I took my chip off after it threw codes and shut me down, now the overhead went up about 1. 5mpg, but we'll see when I fill up. The overhead varies way to much to even be useful usually.

I guess I'm going to have to move to Hawaii. . low, near sea level alt, humid air and can't get much over 55mph anywhere so I'll finally get good mpg, hopefully. I know It'll be a sacrifice, but I'm willing to do it just for the mpg! :)

I'm at sea level in Kali - doesn't make any dif in my mpg !

But - - Hawaii would be nice for everything else,

- - except the cost of living, LOL.

I just got back from Jacksonville. Florida...

I got three tankfuls at 23mpg, and one at 16mpg (I attributed it to either bad fuel, or an inaccurate pump).

Its at least consistent...

Kona diesel price.
