Ok I am debating on either taking my truck to Garmon's Diesel or just doing the work my self. Talked to Jeff a couple of weeks ago and he said for my 500hp that i want he could do it for me for around $5500. 00 and that includes getting a Suncoast transmission and torque converter built by him. He said i all ready have everything that i need to make the power except for the turbo. He also said it would take about a week to do it.

If i do the work my self the truck wont be down for a week and i would probably use a Goerand Bros. transmission. But i really don't know what turbo to go with and what all i need to do to adjust everything so that I can get the 500 plus HP that i want in my daily driver.

Any suggestions on what to do will be appreciated.

Making 500 hp takes a lot of time and effort. Injectors need to be changed, intake needs to be changed, turbo, porting and polishing (not necessary, but nice), exhaust work, and of course the transmission will need to be built up.

If you are comfortable doing all that, then by all means, do it. The job will be more special if you can tell people you did it yourself IMO.

You've already got good injectors, a good plate, I'm asuming that's a 4" exhaust to your stacks... tuning is extremely important on 12v's.

You'll need a bigger turbo, probably a 62/14 or a 64/14, whichever suits your needs (I'd call HTT). It also looks like you need a better intake if that's a drop in K&N. And then you'd need to get a replacement transmission or beef your own up with a TC and other parts. I'd also set your timing forward and adjust your valves.

Well I am going to get the Scotty 2 air intake. and probably go with a replacment transmission but i dont know which turbo to go with or what all to do.

scotty 2=LOUD! :D

Like I said, I'd recommend the HTT series 62 or 64. Either one will work depending on what you want to do, if you're higher in elevation or towing, you'd want to go smaller, but if you want a hot rod, the bigger might be better.

I'd say the 62/14 is good up to 470-480 HP before things start to get pretty warm.

This is the area where "been there done that" will kick in. If you aren't sure about the turbo or tuning, you will probably wind up with more power and better drivability using Garmon's experience. I did all the work to my truck, but i made a lot of friends along the way :-laf I have been over a year messing with it and i'm still not done ;) That has actually been the most fun, doing the work myself and learing what works together. It has probably cost me more this way... . 3 sets of injectors, 3 dv's, and 2 turbos, before i settled into the combination that i liked.

How do you like the SPS66 how is it for street manners?

i think i am going to end up going with the sledpuller 66 that Jeff recomended and i will probably take the truck to him and let him do the transmission, turbo, and tune my pump so that i can hit the 500+ that i want. THEN I CAN PUT MY 500HP CLUB STICKERS ON IT.

OH yes and i will be going with the scotty 2 air intake. as soon as i can find them for a decent price.

How boput it Mr. Fulmer??? what should i go with for the turbo??? I have decided to go with Garmon's diesel to do all of my work, since he says he can make it very streetable for cheap. also no head work at this time.

Jeff is great at what he does. . I took one of my 12 valve trucks to him, and an hour and a half later he had doubled the power. . From 160 to 320. . Not huge power, though it made a huge difference.

I have been all :D with the sps66, been on over a month now. I was running the htt62/14 before and i liked that charger as well (made 475/989 with that set up :) ). I had sent my pump in to Industrial Injection to have it tweaked and i was going to need more air, so that is how the sps66 came to be. i have actually felt the surge that everyone talks about two or three times in about a month of daily driving. It was always in an odd driving scenario... Getting on it from a stop and looks like open road, then someone pulls out in front of you and you have to let off some just as it hits lock up, odd spots like that... . its too rare for it to concern me. It spools as quickly as the htt62/14 did, maybe a little quicker and it is cooler on top, even with more fuel from the pump work. It depends on your application as well, i don't tow anything, just a big toy. If i was towing i would have gone with the sps62, it should spool a little quicker and cruise egt will be lower.

Good Luck,

Dave
