I did a search on exhaust systems but would like to know where you guys got yours, how was the service (shipped when expected etc. ), how long have you had it, any problems so on and so forth. Please include web site if possible.

I currently have an aluminized 4" turbo back system that is falling apart. It is about 7 years old. Last year I replaced the front pipe but now the rest of the system is rusting out. I am considering stainless if it will truly last longer. Preferably the life of the truck, I expect to have it for quite a few years and I run it in New England winters to plow snow. Does anyone have any experience with the 409 and 304 stainless systems? Is the 304 really worth the extra cash, or does it just look nice and shiney down there where the sun don't shine? :-laf

Any input would be great! I don't mind spending the money as long as I'm sure I'm getting a high quality product, but I also don't want to spend any more than I have to...

Thanks in advance

I just received one of these from Full Spectrum Performance. It's a 5 inch exhaust, but the downpipe is 4 inch. The first pipe after the down pipe is clearanced slightly to clear the transmission cross-member. The quality is just as good as the 4 inch Pinnacle Performance (Jardine) exhaust that I have on my truck now. Coincidentally mine rusted after 7 years as well and broke in front of the muffler. They also advertise on E-Bay so you can bid on them and maybe get it a little cheaper. Ordered the 5 inch without the muffler and I'm installing a Donaldson M090535 truck muffler instead of using their muffler. In my opinion a best bang for the buck. Here's the link:

I bought an mbrp on ebay for 300$ new. I cant remember the seller and the exhaust was drop shipped right from mbrp so it sthe real deal. fit wise it was incredable. I dont think I would use anything but mbrp after using this one. its alumanized and I have had it probably about a year and a half in new england and have no signs of rust. its all still shiny silver.

In May I purchased a system from an obscure seller I found on the web called Shop Diesel. They ship from NJ. I bought the 4" Turbo Back AL system. It only took 5 days for it to reach me in WA state. I paid $280 including shipping. from the piont that I placed the order til I recieved it was a little scared that it would not meet my expectations. however it turned out great. Mandrel bends thick tubing. the hangers were a little hokey and not all of them lined up with the stock mounts and they are not treated for rust so they will probably rot before the pipe. after my installation there were some rattles and the pipe hit the bed were it exited due to no rear hanger. I spent $30 Labor at the muffler shop and he made all of the hangers work and fixed all the rattles. So far I am Happy with my purchase but this is the first of many winters so time will tell.

DD, you don't say what yr. your truck is. If it's 12v '98 or older, have fun finding a direct bolt-on replacement. According to D/C the pt. #'s are the same from '94 to '02 I believe, meaning they're all the same. Trust me, they're not. I ended up putting a Magnaflow system on my '97 for about $450. I had to "modify" a few of the hangers for this to fit. I've had this on my truck now for better than 6 yrs. & only had to replace a hanger & 1 clamp. The price sure beat the dealer price of $650 for muffler & tailpipe only. Just my $. 02 worth...

J Shocik,

Sorry it is a '96 3500 reg. cab. I have been noticing that most sites say the rear tail pipe hanger may need to be slightly modified to fit. .

Is your's a SS or aluminized? Does it still look like it has a lot of service life, or is it getting close to needing replacement??

This is the same setup I have on my 98 12v and the fit was perfect. I am running no muffler or cat with a 6" magnaflow tip... Now my truck sounds like a TRUCK.

Hey bud, Try touching up those bare areas with High Temperature Aluminized Paint. If any areas of your exhaust look like they are being road dirt and salt blasted, scrub it off and paint it. Oo. GregH

New pipes

Js your right on with the difficult fitting. The MBRP I got didnt fit even after talking directly to them on the phone. I sold it and put a Grand Rock kit on . They make all kinds of Big Truck exhaust including stacks for our trucks. Plus the tubing material was heavier and better coated and cost less.

I have had the Jardine 4" on mine since '97. Still looks almost new. Must say though the only salt we have here in Central Texas is on the table!

:D Up until about a week ago Texas has had a more snowy and cold winter than we have up in NH this year! :D

It seems that prices have really gone up since about a year ago wen I replaced the front pipe. The replacement pipe didn't fit quite right and I had to buy an adapter to add about 2" in length. It also doesn't fit on the turbo outlet very well. It has to be way off center in order to clear the frame, as a result it has a slight leak at the turbo. I bought the pipe from the same company I got the original 4" exhaust from and they still had me in their computer and said it was the correct pipe etc. So now that the rest of the system is falling apart I want to replace it all hopefully for the last time.

I can't imagine what the price will be in another 7 or 8 years if I put the same quality back on (not that 7+ years is bad for aluminized) and need to replace it again. Or if there will still be any systems available for such an old truck. I won't go back to stock for fear of egt's with the slight mod's and heavy trailers...

I still have some time to look around, I'm not going to install it until April. I will buy something as soon as I get as much info as possible with the best quality for the money.

Thanks to everybody so far and keep it coming!!!
