What is the max GCVW for a Dodge?

Any one install Reese 5 hitch???

OK here's the deal the wife and I are deciding on a new truck and 5'ver combo. I've been looking at a 3500 auto 3:73 srw, But she picked out a 38' fleetwood gear box, with a gvw of 11,100 dry and around 17,400 loaded, I'm thinking we'll be over the gcwr of a drw? I need some advice from those of you in the know. Thanks in advance

1) Don't even consider a SRW with that trailer. You will exceed the truck's GVWR before you even load it up.

2) Don't even think about 3. 73 gears with an auto for that trailer.

3) You will be at the limit for any 1 ton pickup truck with that trailer.

Good luck.

With that trailer, you will need the GVWR, rear axle GAWR and rear tire load ratings of a DRW. Even then, at 17,400 lbs trailer weight, you'll probably wind up like me with our 16,000 lb GVWR 5ver that Momma had to have - within my GAWRs, but we won't talk about the truck's GVW and GCW! :(

I will third that. Like Rusty, you will probably be over the GCWR of the dually but at least you probably won't exceed the GVWR of the truck. I am very careful so I NEVER run overweight. :D

DRW for sure with that weight.

This 17,400 would include the fresh, black,& gray tanks full to capacity, that H2O gets pretty heavy, but you could adjust for that if you watch. I would go with the DRW/4. 10 like others stated. I have seen a few DRW's with the Western Hauler bed here lately an man are they nice looking rigs IMO. I've seen a 3G white one an two 3G silver one's an I liked them. :D

Thanks guys, I think I may try and talk her into the 33' gear box. This model goes 11,500 loaded and has a 2200# pin weight. I can live with the six shooter but I don't want the 4:10's I don't think I'll tow it enough for that gear set

I looked at these too but the 33 was not quite big enought for my needs and the 38 was too big- I really liked the features but they looked a little flimsey- the RV forums are showing a lot of delamination issues with the gearbox models- not trying to poo-poo just go in eyes wide open. You might want to ask about the delam warranty specifically and I personally would not buy one without an extended warranty to cover it. Too big an investment to rely on a one yr job.

This data is from Dodge's towing guide. Looks like you'll be overweight before you even get started.

Fitter48093, you can see my 5er on my sig. This thing tips the scale at 11,700 empty. As it stands right now it's at nearly 13k. If you are deciding on a truck definitely get a DRW. The stability is way better than a SRW, plus if you have a blowout you have an extra tire to help out. Crosswinds won't effect you much with DRW as they will with a SRW.

Hate to say it, but that's why Ford has the F-450 and 550. Sure wish Dodge had a similar model, I'd buy one in a New York minute!!

Especially when your fellow dieselheads keep cooking it up and serving it to you in large portions. Oo.

Oh NO!! With the utterance of "HOG" I fear that the carefully avoided subject has been broached yet again! Shhhh! I hear the footsteps of the Weight Police! ;)

Heavy Dodge Truck

I heard a rumor that in Mexico Dodge Markets a 2 ton pickup truck that looks just like the USA trucks but tougher and rated higher. Not available in the states. Anyone else heard anything about this ? R C
