Competition One Faast powerstroke!

Competition Dyno Question

I've been challenged to a race against a Duramax. I know the Dmax's can be fast, but what would it take for one to beat me? I've been running real consistent at 14. 02 or a little better, 95 or 96mph.

Problem is, I don't know the configuration of the DMax (ie ext. cab, 4wd, etc) or exactly what's done to it. I do know it is only supposed to have some sort of box on it.

One thing that makes me feel pretty good is that the guy doesn't believe that I can run a 14, or that a dodge any dodge can beat his DMax. He figures he runs in the 15's (never been to the track), and I guess believes that I'm lying to him.

What do you all think?

Will I beat him, smoke him, or get my tail handed to me?

Thanks,

Chris

With your mods... oh yea! heck If I had your transmission I would launch at 20 PSI on him and leave him sitting! Good numbers BOTW!

Jim

At Beech Bend there were two young men (18?) with regular cab trucks. One ran low 15's (6 speed) and the other a 14. 4 with aFe, exhaust, and a Juice box.

There are faster ones, but I would say if you can swing a 14. 02 and tree the guy, your chances are better than average. Good luck and never turn down a race!

Chris,

You should have no problem beating him. Let me know when you guys are running and I will try to come up.

If by chance he somehow beat you, which means you went up in smoke at the line, or broke (knock on wood) then I'll take care of him for you :-laf

You mean I had a Duramax on my tail Eric with my 14. 39. Back to the drawing board I guess.

As soon as we get a chance to line up, I'll let you know how bad I beat him. ;)

Chris
i know of some one in that area with a dmax with some transmission work done and he just may be able to hand you yuor hindparts these trucks are very fast but without transmission work about low 14 is a good as it will get. my max has run a best of 13. 37 but i have a lot of goodys hope to have a new transmission for the rockingham race and hhope to be in the 12s

I had a single cab 4x4 Dmax, with Edge's HOT Juice box I ran a 14. 24 at 90. 96 in 4wd and 285/75/16 tires. With stock tires and in 2wd I ran a 14. 4 at 94. 91. And that was with it cutting the power back in 5th gear cause the transmission couldn't hold the power. I liked the Dmax engine, it was the rest of the truck I couldn't stand.

My nephew has a 6. 0 PSD, supercab 4x4. Stock he ran a 15. 8 at 84, with Quad's box he ran a 14. 24 at 92. 9 with a 1. 82 60', and the transmission is holding fine.

FYI

had a 6. 0 at the track over the weekend with quads box and all else stock in three runs got from 9. 11 to 9. 16... . jess

No, I haven't had a chance to race him yet. The one hour of dry roads we had this month I tried to track him down but was unable to. Hopefully I'll be able to sooner or later.

I'll be sure to let everyone know what happens as soon as something does.

On a different note, wow those 6. 0's and dmax's are fast with just boxes. I think I may need some more upgrades in the near future.

More mods:-laf :-laf . Get a PDR HX40 and a 4"exhaust,and take it from there. I cant speak for the 6. 0's,but I know those juiced dmaxs are very quick,my cousins is incredibly quick, and its a lifted crew cab 4x4. I bet its still in the 14's easily.

Ted,

Still haven't had a chance to run the guy. I don't know where he went. He talked a lot of trash, and then dissapeared.

On a different note. I went to capitol tonight. Had two bad runs (14. 14 and 14. 2) where I didn't have the boost right coming off the line. Then on my last run, I made it in to the 13's. Ran a 13. 987 with a 1. 84 60ft. I was pretty happy.

John, I'm still running the stock exhaust with muffler and stock HY. I really need to get a bigger turbo and new exhaust so I can add some more power.

One other thing. The duramax that was at Budd's creek for the big rig nationals was at capitol tonight. (the gray reg. cab long bed with lift gate) He ran a 14. 58 the one time I saw him run.

Later,

Chris
