i am putting an intercooler in my truck and need to rotate the outlet from the turbo (h1c) so i can make an adapter to fit the intercooler pipe, question is do i just have to loosen the clamp holding thc compressor housing to the rest of the turbo and turn it or is there a gasket i will screw up?

No gasket, it's just that simple. The only problem I can see you encountering would be a little rust making it stick. Other than that, it should spin freely once you loosen the clamp.

Not sure on our turbos but all of the other turbos I've worked on in cars have a pin which sets the clocking of the outlet. If it won't budge, take it apart and remove or grind off the pin.

There is no pin or key that locks it in position.

Loosen the clamp, give it a light tap if necessary, and it will (should) rotate.

But I seem to remember there being a rubber gasket in there... but it should not stop you from clocking the compressor housing.

I just did so. Had to rotate due to the removal of the OEM cross over pipe to a custom cross-over tube.

It didn't like to rotate. And, I had just put this turbo togerther less than a year ago. Yes, there is a gasket. It's a quad ring. The aluminum comp housing fits very tight onto the back plate. It wanted to turn slightly, but not enough. You may get lucky... ... ...

I had to pull the comp housing off. I removed the seal and reinstalled the housing to allow me to rotate it frequently during the "mock-up" of the new tube.

And yes, that band clamp is all it takes to loosen the compressor housing.

thanks thats exactly what i wanted to hear, also i am giong to be selling my custom 2 1/4 inch crossover when i get the intercooler in if anyone is interested, cheap, like $25
