New 3 piece exhaust manifold?

k&n filter

Here is a pic showing the difference comparing a stock 3rd gen and the ATS.

Its kinda hard to see due to poor lighting but here is what you are looking at:

Stock on the left and ATS on the right. They are both being held down on a flat counter top side by side with the mounting flange flat to the counter.

As you can see the ATS is shorter and pointed more towards the front of the truck so you have to raise up the lower pipe to connect it which interferes with other components. I remember the power steering hoses were pulled tight around it and didn't fit right to try and go behind the intake.

Yep thats about how all of them that I have seen look!I talked to them about cutting the end off and correcting the angle but they said not to as the cast aluminum would not weld to good!I made a new pipe but I have been trying to find a ring to weld onto the tube so the boot does not come off at 50psi! :-laf

Mike I have always had a pretty easy time welding cast aluminum?Did they say it was their alloy being the problem?

Ya Bob thats what I was told. I don't seem to have much problem either that's why I asked about rewelding it. It seemed like a nice piece till I went to put it on. It works pretty good I pulled the ATS off the other day and put the stock back on and took a drive and there was a pretty good improvment with the ATS.

Huh......??

I'm continually baffled to read about attempts to retrofit products that are clearly poorly engineered at prices over $300. 00.

ATS will continue with their arrogant attitude as long as we allow it.

Anyone ever think this product was made to fit an ISB, not a ISBe.

Too the words right out of my mouth... I think the same thing every time I see someone buy a certain brand of torque converter :)

I am not sticking up for a vendor, but ya'll are beating a dead horse. The product clearly doesn’t fit right on the ISBe, so why drive this into the ground? Would you try to put a 6cyl CAT motor in your truck, just cause it has the same number of cylinders?

As for arrogant attitudes at ATS, why don't you try being a real person to some of the folks over there, you will be surprised at what you get in return.

Have a great day.

No, I don't. :--) Shocking, I know! :-laf

Now come on Jake tell the whole story You did work there though didn't you.

I think you are right in saying it it doesn't fit the 3rd gen trucks and wasn't designed to but why do the sell them to the 3rd gen guys then? When asked ATS should simply say they don't have them for the 3rd gens and all would be good.

Hey Jake

I was just wondering at what HP level do I need to start running without my oil fill cap? Your the second one I've seen recently I knew I was doing something wrong! :D

Because the vendor says it does when they should at minimum state clearance modifications may be needed on the ISBe. Not all ISBe owners will read this thread and will continue to order only to be disappointed.

As long as that happens there will be threads beating it up.

:--) Before anyone else drags us through the dirt without calling to find out any information we have to offer I'm going to clear things up. Yes their are cases of binding where the manifold meets the intercooler piping. Yes we are aware of this issue, but this was not an issue right off the start. When we first test fitted the manifold to the common rail it fit fine, and it is still on there as you can see in the picture. Because of this issue we think that Dodge might have changed the pipe some at one point. We are correcting this problem with a new manifold casting for the ISBE. The new manifold will be available in three weeks.

Thank You For Your Time

ATSDiesel,

With all due respect, I DID CALL! See my post pg 4 top page. The bottom line is that you continue to sell a product that is by fare unacceptable for the 2004 trucks. That speaks volumes! Having said that at least you're making an appearance here and that is promising. Looking forward to the swap-out :)

I have had this manifold for the past 2 months and this was the same response I got from the guy on the phone(forgot his name). But at that time there was no release date for the new one. As for ATS I think they are a GREAT company and would not have any problems with buying anything from them again! All toll I have about 1hr in makeing the pipe. As for their trans if I had an auto it would be in my truck. FYI I paid a lot less than $300. 00 for the manifold.

Jake Nice color! :-laf

Well,I bought one for my 1995 truck and the intake was close to the master cylinder resevoir, and my intake pipe wouldn't reach the intake without making a longer pipe. Now I ended up sticking it on my '01 truck and it fits great and I love the way it looks and has the hole's pre-drilled and tapped. The only difference between the 2 trucks that I seen is the intake sits in the center of the engine on my '95 hence making it close to the brake fluid resevoir, and the '01 is closer to the front of the engine towards the fan ,making it a perfect fit for my '01 truck, looks better on it anyway and I didn't want to get rid of my chromed intake off my '95 anyway . When I bought mine,it list the truck years from 1994-up which is misleading to me since it didn't fit my '95,but I think ATS is OK in my book... ... ... ... ... ... ... . John
