I have one of those lightened 6.7 trucks. It was lightened because it went through two turbo's - 40k miles each, tried to do things right and I got tired of it. The truck is tuned with a "stock power" delete so the remainder of the drive train doesn't suffer. The truck is much more responsive now. Usually 16-17 mpg running around and up to 21 on the highway at 70 mph cruise - running stock size tires. You can go down a rabbit hole if tuned up too much.
The emission system would work just fine if you just drove it on the expressway. That's not reality for me. My truck gets all kinds of uses from short drives to pulling trailers longer distances and I have owned it for almost 14 years now. The only complaint I have with the truck is my dislike of the shifting characteristics of the 68RFE transmission. It is lazy and you have to help it think when to shift. The integrated exhaust brake is awesome for towing. I am still running the original brake pads at 132k miles. Rumor is there is going to be a new ZF transmission in the works for 2025 so this has me thinking.....
