2025 4500/5500

No heat in cab

I have been over 30 lbs boost on some good hard grades. Doesn’t stay there long and I’m going pretty fast by then and need to watch the road not the gauges. I have also definetely pushed the exhaust brake to the limit. It doesn’t seem to mind and works great

Just made this exact same trip today, 11.3k on the clock, trip was 411 miles. Tire wear? Last time it was 408. Display said 23.7, math was 22.8. That surprised me, winter fuel, loaded heavier and some extra accessories. Sure do like this truck:)

33k plus miles on the truck, 397 miles this trip, display 22.6, math 21.48. Drove a little faster and probably have added more junk in the bed.

Perfect day today so I did my annual service, exactly one year but only 11754 miles. AH64ID's suggestion was a big help in doing the fuel filter sequence, about 95% better on the mess. The front is easy.

Just for fun I checked the oil temp display v/s my Infared, almost exact. I used the plug in the top of the filter head to aim at. I took it for a short drive and got it up to operating temp then let it idle at the shop. First go was 194 display 193 Infared, after a couple of minutes to stabilize, 185 display, 184 Infared. Interesting.

@NIsaacs, It's good to see that someone posts about there truck; good and the ugly. You only see posts of the truck when it's a issue and they just want to bash the truck and not the upkeep! Yes, things can go wrong with any manufactured product, but with some proper upkeep and not abuse, these trucks can "keep on ticking" for quite a long time!

I don't bash my truck when it has an issue. I just roll with it and pass along the how, what and why. That way, others can learn about what may transpire and what to look out for, before it leaves them on the side of the road.

Yes, I could see you doing just that with a new truck again!

I keep telling myself we're done buying trucks. Wife's 2019 Ram 1500 and my 2017 Ram 5500 work great and are low mileage. Paid for is a strong case for not getting anymore, but there are sure some purty new trucks. I'm pretty sure we're done buying trucks.

Have fun and be safe!

You got a great combo. A light duty and a heavy duty. Both can be used like a regular car if needed with no issue.

I'm still entertaining the idea of keeping the EcoD and just go to something beyond a 3500 and just do a 5500.

If I did that, I'd have to get rid of either my Dakota or my F150. I don't need that many vehicles. Especially two half tonners.

I ALMOST got a 2022 Ram 3500 Laramie SRW and get rid of the 5500 after getting a MH. When my wife asked why, I told her it's too big and too HD. Yep, it rides like a truck. She asked since when is too big a bad thing. She was right. I love the flat bed for loading and unloading. Fuel savings would take a million miles to offset trading.

Anyhoo, we like them and are only driving a couple thousand miles on them a year. Your's is a keeper too.

The 1500 is about as low as I'd go. Back when the Dakota was still being produced, it was essentially a high end 1/4 ton, boarding a half ton. My 2000 Dakota has the heavy duty setup with 6 lug axles. Rare to find on such a small truck.

I like your wife.... when is too big a bad thing? It never is, especially if it is your truck payment free.

Really am in love my EcoD. The mileage is impressive for how much she weighs. Along with how it shifts and rides. Diesel power is amazing.

I put a work trailer on it a few weeks ago at around 7000#, and I notice it back there, but the EcoD pulls it fine.

Anyhow, don't want to hijack Nick's thread... back to Nick's truck...... :D
