Seat belt problems

I thought EVERYTHING was big in Texas?

Is this true? If you work for UPS and some one crashes into your truck. UPS will fire you even though its not your fault.

Friend of mine drove for them. Bad snowstorm and his boss told him he had to go from Spearfish to Rapid with his delivery. He said I have almost no chance of making it. His boss told him if he didn't go he was fired. He left wound up getting hit by a car that lost control and he wound up in the ditch afterward. Got fired for having an accident. To say he was mad as hell would be a huge understatement.

I'm surprised that's in their union contract. I would think the Teamsters would jump all over something like that.

Ditto what Dan said, your paying dues, so use it to your needs... . HOWEVER when I needed them back in '93, I got burned so I would'nt hold my breath either. :(

Union or no union, that won't hold up in a court.

You cannot be fired or removed from a job for an acident that was not your fault.

Get a jury trial if possible.

I have heard the same thing from a few drivers. The way I understand it, it doesn't mater how long you've been with them either

I know Jeff went and talked to a lawyer after his incident and then it all went quiet and he has never really talked about it since. So I guess I am in the dark as to if he ever got anything done with it.

This policy sounds like a scheem to eliminate the drivers with high seniority as it's only a matter of time before everyone is involved in an accident of some type.

Yep heard of policys like that with other trucking companies had a friend driving for JB Hunt. Rain slick day lady pulled out of school with kids and he was going to hit her he went for the ditch to avoid accident with her. SHe kept going and he had to call a wrecker to pull him out of the ditch paid for it out of his pocket. Since the lady left it ended up being a driver lost control of vehicle in wet conditions on police report. He lost his job a week later for an avoidable accident. So now if someone pulls out in front of him he will go with the unavoidable accident, bad place to be put let Darwin take over or try to help stupid people and end up screwed over yourself.
