Oil In Coolant!

I thought the oil pressure readings were legit and the oil temp was a guesstimate.

Oil pressure readings have been fake from 2003 and forward, along with the 24V's after a change in the sensor(to a switch) and a re-flash of the ECM if you had to replaced the sensor if the OEM failed.

What I am reading also states that the oil temp is also a computer generated reading.

I'm fine with my slightly detuned G56 truck.

FWIW the 370hp engine offered in these pickup trucks isn't detuned. most of the ISB's running on the road doing real work have much lower outputs than what is offered in the Ram trucks

I'm positive the oil temp reading is calculated. I can't find an oil temp sensor in the Cummins parts book and my truck has this interesting tendency for the oil temp to drop 40 or fifty degrees in a few seconds under light load conditions.. since I know engine oil temperature can't do that and I can't find an oil temp sensor in the parts book, I inferred its just a computer calculated reading. therefore useless.

yeah, but I think the torque curve on the manual transmission tuned trucks is completely flat from about 1600 to about 2800 rpm, versus the peak and then the decline in torque on the automatic equipped trucks, so your engine stune actually isn't particularly different from the automatic trucks in real world use

I think you're mostly correct on that. There is some torque management based on speed (speedometer) (slower speeds). But otherwise flat. No dead pedal. Just enough torque management to keep the wheels from spinning on dry pavement and the electronic traction control from turning on.

Theory of Operation


The Engine Oil Pressure (EOP) Switch is used by the Powertrain Control Module (PCM) to monitor the lubricating oil pressure. If the oil pressure drops below the engine protection limit, the switch will close and cause the fault to log. The Oil Pressure Switch is normally closed when the engine is not running and open when oil pressure is present. When the fault is set, the PCM illuminates the MIL light. The PCM will turn off the MIL light after the diagnostic runs and passes in four consecutive drive cycles.

Waiting to run this to ground before posting. After work was completed on the head bolts, water pump recall etc etc I got the truck back very happy drove to NM over 110 there no issues getting hot at all. Get home going to the office the week after stopped in traffic taking up construction cones near downtown here. 6am 70 degrees been driving 60 with outside air on. Stopped for 5 minutes noticed the air getting warm out of the vent, after a few more hell it was hot looked and water temp was at 208, oil at 211, transmission at 190, oil psi at 30. Very odd since the temp with the new stat went to 190 was 185 old stat, oil usually runs around 190 at 70 mph.

Long story short turn the ac on or TURN the fan on temps high fall like a rock oil goes back to 159 in a few seconds or MOVING JUST 20 mph enough air goes into the front for it to cool off when the ac is off. Oil cooler is near the oil filter and when the bay gets as hot as mine does it shoots up.

Tech that did my motor work went with me and we duplicated the problem he took vids of the dic and also ran several tests before we went out for a drive because he could not replicate the problem. Fan working at the speeds being called for.

Tech Rep came in last week he saw the issue hell they ran almost a qtr tank out of my truck, consulted with Detroit where I was told the Cummins engineering support folks are. New flash was performed while my truck was having the head bolt issue fixed. One of the issues the flash addressed was adjustment to the fan levels due to noise complaints lol.

Bottom line is "normal" per Fiat sorry nothing we can do. Now the Dealer has been awesome during this offered to install a new fan clutch NC if I would pay for the part! Truck ran for 47k and never ever did this once. The old flash is no longer even in the Fiat system to put back.

Oh well time for a new Power Smoke. Already got my X-Plan number located a few of the new metallic white Platinum trim levels drove one Friday. Finish negotiating with another dealer who has the interior color I want tweak the trade in value another grand and this will be someone else's problem.

LOVE the truck but no fix and this is not even close to being normal. Just final closure to this saga. Maybe get another Ram Fiat in a couple or three years when the new body style bugs get worked out...

I read some of these threads ( they are all over the internet) where the owner did all kinds of modifications to their truck and then when it goes to $#!+ they blame the truck, never look in the mirror and wonder to their self if maybe they had something to do with it.. Anyway, if a person is smart you they would remind their self of these three words before attempting any changes. " STOCK IS BEST"

Yep. No plans to tune mine for more torque or power.

no plans to do anything to mine except change the fluids and filters at regular intervals and drive it like an adult who owns an adult vehicle instead of acting like a kid and treating it like a toy..

I have ZERO reason to screw with my trucks performance. Just double towed from SoCal to NW WA at 35k combined. Truck just does it over and over with no complaints.

If I did add performance mods I would know that "I AM MY OWN WARRANTY STATION".

Got the white metallic platinum F250 4x4 yesterday. Pulled the spare tire and wheel I had in the bed, adapter holder for the 5th wheel and the mounting plate for my off road jack out of the Ram to put on this new truck. Wheels, tires, BDS levelling kit with the Fox shocks, bed hard cover to be put on tomorrow hopefully then off to NM.

This beast needs no tuner lol, it had 21 miles on it when I took delivery now has almost 60 21.2 mpg average and it runs real hard. Bar is set imho too high for Fiat Chrysler on the next generation Ram but we will see. Not even going to comment on the barbs tossed my way on how I drive lol. Hey I drive in areas that would make the folks that made those comments soil their Depends ..
