I have read many a post over the years about the sending unit going out now it is my turn. Getting ready to go on vacation, 5ver loaded and prepped, start truck and about 10 seconds later get a check gauges chime, 0 oil pressure. Tried restarts a few times and gauge goes to 60 for 10 seconds and falls like a rock. Crawled under the truck and opened the sample port on the bypass filter, had good oil flow so the vacation did start just a little odd driving 200 miles with no oil pressure gauge. The big question is this is the original and I believe 2 wire plug. Does anyone know the latest part # for a replacement ?. I do not want the band aide fix that Dodge did making it essentially a switch. Can the part be purchased on line ?, link ?. I will check the plug and wiring when we return home, just want to check on a replacement sensor for now.

Dave

David, get me your engine serial number and I will look in Cummins as soon as I get to work. I believe there is an updated sensor. The original sender is no longer available I think.

Have you checked Geno's Garage on line?

Bill

Yes, it states a 2 wire plug and I believe mine is a 2 wire from what I could see and feel after putting my arm through a meat grinder trying to wiggle it around. Us old folks bleed easily :-laf Mike, will get the ESN shortly

Thanks Mike

Geno's is offering the correct one. It's kind of a cluster as it is not an upgrade that is visible to the dealers. I made notes years ago when I first ran into this.

Cummins does that on occasion, you will get a message that states "Call Distributor".......kind of a PITA..

My notes that are attached to one of the old sender part numbers, took me a minute to find it..

Supercedes to the Geno's part offered. It's all good.

Direct replacement.

Non Dodge applications require the harness and re-flash. I put that note in our system in '06 because it was so confusing.

Finally replaced the sending unit today. Kind of a PIA but not impossible with out removing anything else. The old one was 1 1/4 the new is 1 1/16 and all is well.
