Hi Folks,
Just a minor problem but really frustrating. What tricks or extensions are you using to add air to the duallies?

What you need is a dual head air chuck. You can find these at most truck stops or larger auto parts stores. The length is approximately 8" and with the opposing head you can easily fill the inside duals.

Hello Tagalong, To fill/check the tires on my 93 dually, I purchased "hoses" that attach on to the tire valves. You will have to remove the wheels, attach the hoses, and secure them to the wheel hub. I purchased my set from AW Direct in Berlin CT. Hope this helps. Rick.

Thanks Ram and Rick,
I'm looking into picking up a long reach air pressure gauge from Camping World but the issue stems from the fact that many Auto Service Stations are switching to "pay for air" pumps. That means that I wound up hunting for a proper inflator head. But here is part of the reason for my post. As you can see by my Sig. I recently had DC change the rear end for me... they did not replace the wheels with the valve stems aligned together.
I spent 3 hours searching for a tire inflator that would get to the inner dually. I finally took off the outers and rotated them per the owners manual... so much for certified technicians... I wonder if it was the same tech that after he did my 1st oil and filter change (a freebie) I asked if he put a quart in the cartridge. He said, "naw, that doesn't matter. " Needless to say, that won't happen again! Keep your eyes on anyone who does work on your Ram... if they let you! #ad

Thanks again!

Tagalong... while you are at Camping World, ask them about it. They sell the valve stem extension hoses... looked like braided stainless. I think they were about 20 dollars.

Be aware that it may knock your tires out of balance... my right one was hopping up and down off of the dyno a year ago! Ask Andy P. about it.....

Thanks Rob,
I wondered about balance with the larger valve extenders. I may just add short extenders and pick up my own tire inflator. I have access to a compressor so for routine tire maint. I'll just use my own.

I have the short braided stainless ones on my truck and they are a real timesaver. I have never noticed a problem with balance and they have never leaked.

RamBoy,
What brand and where did you get the shorty extensions?

FYI,
I had the extenders on my inside duals. They leaked and I do not know how long tire was flat. Checked tires on a monthly basis. Stay away from extentsion hose's, if you must go with long brass or metal valve stems. Thats what I used and never a problem for last 6 years. Also, I used a small electric 1 1/2 horse air compressor. Carried in RV all the time.

Also check Camping World for a product called "ZIP" for "Zero Internal Pressure" hose extensions for valve stems. From what I gather, these extensions are not pressurized until to use them. Then they have a way (not sure how) to bleed them empty leaving the OEM stem to hold the air in the tire. PFM I guess, -and they're not cheap!

I've had the extensions, they seem like a good idea , but as stated before they leak.
The double ended chuck works pretty good , but it can still be a pain in the can.
Good luck , It's a small price to pay to have a dually.
