I just finished signing the final papers with Adam and the fine print on mine said 5 to 7 weeks. That's pretty quick compared to the 12 weeks it took when I ordered my 98. 5 a few years back.

Oh the Taxman

Hi Pete:

I was wondering why you chose the 3500 over the 2500 Mega Laramie. In looking at the specs, is it because you tow more than you need for payload? I called Adam on Monday and will be receiving the quotes on Wednesday. Also, do you know if the cash incentive is applied before or after sales tax?

For what it is worth, I'm number 18, as in the 18th customer from TDR thanks to you and Mel. I used your name for the referral.

Thanks,
Brad

Brad,

As Mel aptly stated my reasons parrallel his own... I anticipate the need for the increased tow capacity and the additional cost seemed a great bargain to me! I looking at buying a trailer that will have the appropriate comfort living quarters features so that I can pack up the wife and my boy throw a hunting/fishing ATV and my Harley in the back for getaways and also allow me to load my "A" body drag car in and tow to local and national events now that I'm retired from the military. This is a challenge since there are many toy haulers out there that satisfy the first requirement and many car haulers w/living quarters that suit the second. However I have yet to find anyone who offers a floorplan that completely satisfies my itch for a hybrid solution. Regardless I expect to be in the max gcwvr neighborhood, so I went with the 3500...

You'll not like the tax answer... CA sales tax is computed before rebates and shame on you for mentioning taxes in this season :{ , only kidding!

Pete

Good for you Terry, way  ! Now you can join me in the waiting game, with regard to the BSNF link I was kinda of hoping somehere had found a way to circumvent the establish account thing since I'm pretty confident that BNSF isn't intrested in us establishing said account just to track a single railcar carring our trucks.

You are correct about BNSF... I used to have that information as I used it when I ordered the 98. 5 but a lot has changed since then... 9/11 etc... . I believe there used to be a toll free phone number to call with the car number to get it's location but I can no longer find it.

And now the wait begins... I'm patient though.

Congratulations are in order. A great choice for a truck. Sounds as though your truck is similar to mine. I didn’t go with the sunroof or the 4. 10 ratio.

Thanks Mel for the information on your decision.

I had the pleasure to talk to Adam this afternoon. I wouldn't call him a salesman, I'd call him a business partner/consultant. He put a lot of work into the quotes I requested and I especially liked the ability to look through the code books he sent as well. We even talked about the differences between the models and accessories like the ARMA spray-in bedliner. I appreciated his perspective on the 5. 9 with the six-speed manual compared to the 6. 7 with the 6sp auto.

I wish he would be able to sell all vehicles and not just Dodge. He is that good! He has a lot of "insider" information that he will share because he truely wants to serve customers and support what is in the customer's best interest. When was the last time any of you have been treated that way? He's a professional expert that I will enjoy working with for years to come - how refreshing!

Take care,

Brad

J,

I beleive that Dan Sullivan just recently purchased from Adam and is having it drop shipped to a local dealer, drop him a line

P, called Adam yesterday and worked out the details. Getting my ducks in a row. If anybody is considering a new truck, they really do need to call Adam first. Beat local dealers by at least 4K. -many thanks.

Does the UPRR not move freight on Sunday's

The railcar that has my truck loaded on it hasn't turned a wheel in Cheyenne WY for more than 24hrs... #@$%!

Back in the 70's when I was a freight conductor on the Penn Railroad's Boston & Albany line Trailervan and Autotrains hot swapped crews and never stopped for more than that recrew and to drop cars... Anyone in the rail industry out there that can explain this to me.

[QUOTE=

I’m located in Southern California and although I’ve done business with a local Dodge Dealer here in the San Diego area, 5 vehicles since 1983, even having done radio spots for them back when I was a young sailor (a long, long time ago). I could not get their fleet/internet guy to realize that he was not going to get my business again unless he could match other deals I was seeing on the internet. So following the advice of many here I faxed build sheets to seven dealerships that offered promise, last week while on a business trip back east, very soon the fruits of that effort singled out three strong contenders and separated some well advertised pretenders ... ... . QUOTE"

I also live in San Diego and had the same experience as you. I bought my first truck, a 2003 1500 Quad Cab and a Mazda Protege for my wife a year later from the same multi brand dealer. When searching for a deal on the new

Mega cab I sent two e-mails, detailing what I wanted, to that dealer and never even got a reply. He was aware I was looking out-of-state. He didn't get my business and I wont go back again.

I would have gone to DSM in a heartbeat, but the logistics of the trip were not good as time was precious to me then. I ended up ordering it from Bill Luke Dodge in Phoenix at about 10k off sticker. That was appropriate since I'm retiring in a couple years and moving to Flagstaff.

Geno's Garage Dealer rating/feedback website was a great help in picking dealers to talk to. Some of these guys are rated so bad I'd want to hold on to my wallet even if I only had to drive by on the freeway!!

Railcars

I feel your pain on the railcars. Mine was loaded on the 17th, sat in Laredo for 6 days with a bad wheel, made it to Ft. Worth a week ago, and hopefully delivered to dealer today.

How sweet it is

April incentives up, I'll save an adittional $1K when I pick up my Mega Cab on the 12th :D

GREAT!!!!!!!! No news like, save me money, news.

I completed my online Dodge customer survey today. That was an easy one to complete. All marks at the top.

Today I received the MOPAR Magazine that Adam promised me.

That guy, Adam, is true to his word. There is a lot to be said about a man who follows thruough.

I wonder if the delay is due to short staffing. I heard the rail companies are really hurting for employees, especially in the next 5-10 years.

My truck (2500 MC laramie 6. 7 68RFE) , left Saltillo 3/13 then left Laredo texas 3/25... . still waiting. My buddies 3500 QC was loaded on the rails three weeks before mine and still has not hit the dealership yet. !

His was supposed to have been off loaded at Benicia CA. , and sitting in the yard for the last two weeks. dealership says its in the teamsters hands now. I feel like a little kid waiting for Christmas. I'm trying to be patient... but man they make it tough. In the olden days you could go to the factory to pick up your new ride.
