I don't know what you're talking about. The bass is so damned pervasive on my system that even with it turned ALL THE WAY DOWN it is still too much for some music. And I'm not talking about the music with lots off bass in it, either.

As far as the rest of the system goes... for what is supposed to be a "premium" sound system, I'd expected more. The sound system in my Chevy Impala LS is better than this.

Maybe it's just the background noise of the truck while running...

It's a great system if you're older and don't like loud music, any bass, and you never crank up the volume. However, I don't think anyone under 45 years old will say they like it (I'm 37).

My door speakers are badly popping when I turn up the volume. Once again, I'll rely on aftermarket stuff to do the job that Dodge could have done.

Being 48 I guess I can say I like it. I do think it's heavy on the bass and I don't think it was worth the price tag. But I do like the MP3 player and love the buttons on the steering wheel. I do wish it had a jack for my ipod though. Better than the rig in my Jeeps! I can hear this one.

I compared mine side by side with the stock sound system in my 98 dodge CTD, our 02 Nissan Pathfinder and 02 Honda Accord and there was no comparison. The only way the bass could be better is with the addition of a sub-woofer. My son, (22) a bass junkie but no audiophile to be sure, loves it. When I was looking at trucks before I bought my 06 I listened to the regular standard sound system Dodge currently offers and it sounded a lot like the one in my 98 ctd. Maybe you guys got a bad one

I'm knocking on the door of 50... . and I think it sucks, (both the age and the factory stereo!). This is a very subjective topic but, just about every factory stereo sucks compared to a well thought out aftermarket system... . really, no comparison. You don't have to spend a ton to get much better fidelity out of an aftermarket... just my . 02.

old mans ears

Greetings one and all,

I'm 59 so take it for what its worth (around 2 cents).

This radio is o. k. not great not bad. Have not looked at the speakers yet, but this is a infinity silver system I know on my 97 jeep it was infinity gold sounded better. The music I listen to is from hard rock to soft Jazz, I agree that this system could be better since its their top of the line for the truck.

The system in my wifes 02 vw rocks then again all german car radios sound great. The system in my daily driver 97 m. b. is out of this world. What I find the big difference is the quality of the speakers. As far a overall sound guilty of the 06 just o. k. its a shame we have to up grade the speakers to make it sound better.

So let the bombing begin on the sound system :D

any idea if it has rca outputs on the back?

No RCAs. OEM radios very rarely ever have RCAs on the back. And the only OE radio I can ever remember having an RCA out put was on Rolls Royces in the late 80s/early 90s, since they were using aftermarket radios as OE.

There are other ways, though.

When I was at the dealers last week I saw a pamphlet that was about being able to hook an ipod up to the ctock stereo. It listed the ram as one of the rigs that was covered. Might try running down to your dealer and talking to them about it. I do not have an ipod so I did not check into it.

It appears there is an AUX jack on the face of the less expensive, single disc CD player. Of course, when you spend more for the Infinity setup, the jack is eliminated.

I think the Infinity is decent so far... better than most stock systems I have run into. What is best is the integrated UConnect and the steering wheel controls. The head unit is nice and conservative too. I have seen some with Alpine units that look like a satellite view of Las Vegas...

I think the sound is fine for what it is in, these are after all trucks, though I must admit that the stereo in my truck doesn't sound as good as the exact same unit in my wifes 06 Dodge Charger. The only difference is the number of speakers, hers has 6 and mine has 4.

If I really want to be reminded of how good our systems are all I do is go out in my old 74 Ford Pinto and turn on the AM only radio and listen through the single speaker in the dash. ;)

06 sound system

Well fellows it seams to be my front door speakers that are giving me the trouble they are not clear at all with the bass up or down volume high or low compair your back speakers they are cristle clear my be I will have to put after market speakers in it I wounder if that will help any one did this . THANKS AND i DO LIKE LOUD MUSICE SOME TIMES NO FOOT NO HORSE NO MUSICE NO TRUCK :-laf

It's as flat as a midwest mountain.....

I have the RAK stereo in my 06 (6 disc/cassette). I had the RAQ(?) (single disc/cassette) in the 03, the 99, and the 97. This new one is by far the worst of the bunch. It does not have the rich full sound that I was used to. I thought maybe it was just me, but without asking them, both my wife and daughter made comments about how "flat" the sound was. I let them play with the bass/mid/high settings for about an hour, and they gave up. For those that say it's a truck, dont worry about it... ... geez, guess I shouldnt expect as much for my 1000 dollar sound system as I would if it were in a car.

Right on my 98/5 had this system beet all to h*** I Will check on after market speakers . I am glade I am not the only one . THANKS ED.

My 06 infinity system has 7 speakers, 3 dash and one in each door.

Mine sounds pretty good. My 97 has the cassette/am/fm. I had to replace both door speakers. I really liked the simplicity of the sliding bass and treble controls. I go back and forth between talk and music and like to listen to the talk with very little bass. I find it easier to hear what's being said. The new one you have to push the button, find bass, mid, and treble, and set it. It takes to long and takes my eyes off the road. I do like the cd player though.

I had the Infinity 6-disk system in my '04. 5 Ram, and now I have the base model system with 1 CD player in the '06. Honestly, I can't hear any difference between the two. Its not a bad system at all, and the bass seems okay for a factory setup.

If you want to hear a horrible system, check out the Bose setup in the '05+ Corvette. Its by far the worst sounding factory system in any vehicle I've owned. Its very metallic sounding, has NO bass, and is high pitched. Yuck.

My '06 Mega has the 7 speaker system... . better than the last couple Chevy's... about the same as a buddies "Bose" system from Chevy...

Could have gotten alot better system for my $1000 going aftermarket... that is for sure... BJ
