optima blue tops ok for our trucks?

Unfortunately, according to specs provided on the Optima website, the 34 serie with the 155 reserve rating, is too large to fit our stock battery tray - wonder in any here are using that series and can tell us for sure. IF that size would fit, it would make a good upgrade for the OEM type batteries - if yer bank account or credit is good enough to stand the hit...

You're right the 31 is definitely a bigger battery but I could have sworn I read that some people were running them and that they fit. And that the 34's were no problem. It looks like JH has actaully done it. I am getting ready to start looking hard at batteries myself. I have never had an OEM battery last more than 4 years and I am coming up on that pretty soon.

Only thing with Deka's are availability. Try www.dekabatteries.com. Or run a web search for there site, and them find a Deka distributor in your area. Next time I get down to my local Deka dist. I will ask if Deka produces batteries under another name for someone else. Bill

I am in the process of making prototype battery holders to remount the Optima 34 battery under the truck bed on the passenger side. I first built one for the group 31 and it is just too large and heavy to fit and install easily. I am going to run just one group 34 and that will be more battery than the Pep Boys battery I have now. I will be making dual battery kits with all the cabels and fittings needed.

Personally, I wouldn't take Optima batteries if you gave them to me. The only way I would take any is if I was to tired to push my truck. Then would change them ASAP. This isn't in any way saying anything about anyone who has them. It's just from my personal experience from dealing with them.
