Grid heater relay and killer grid heater bolt revisited

Truck is at 90,000 miles. I do a bunch of towing and for the most part the DPF remains at 0 most of the time.

Got the P0402 a couple of time so I pulled the EGR off and cleaned it. Wasn’t too bad. Not sure what the P04DE code is.

Gonna take it to the dealer tomorrow and drop it off. Don’t want to start replacing parts if I’m not sure exactly what’s wrong with it. Oil changed every 7k miles. Truck runs and idles perfect.

I will update when they tell me what it’s going to cost me.

Both codes deal with excessive EGR flow, so both are probably caused by the same thing.

Why change the oil every 7K? You don’t say what year the truck is, but posted in the 19+ section so it would appear you wouldn’t hit the 12 month interval of oil but could easily run it to 15K miles.

I had similar codes around 7k miles,... turned out to be a faulty EGR valve, (not returning all the time).. They replaced under warranty, the most persistent code was underboost.

I just don’t see myself running 15k oil changes. Never had never will. It is a 2022 with 91,800 miles.
Except for this EGR bs, it still runs and shifts like a new truck.

Obviously it’s your time, money, and truck, but aside from regen issues these motors are incredibly easy on oil and 15K miles isn’t a stretch. It’s just a waste of time and money to not run the oil the full 12 months or 15K miles.

At 91K miles it should still run like a new truck.

How many miles were on the truck when it first threw the code?

Well I will continue to waste my time and money and you can continue not to worry about what I do.

I could care less about what you do with your time and money, just pointing out some modern info about these engines since lots of people are stuck on OCIs from 20+ years ago. Most hot shooters are trying to minimize their unnecessary maintenance expenses, not intentionally increase them. Do what you want, but you brought up your OCI so obviously you wanted to talk about it, or was it just irrelevant info you wanted ignored?

Don’t need you to point out anything. I got this.

Doesn’t really matter. Just traded it in for a 2024. I’ll pick it up about 1:30.

Merry Christmas.

Merry Christmas!! Nice Christmas present too -- a 2024 Cummins!

Can you post pics? Please..... :D

It’s a 2024 Tradesman Level 2 Trim 4x4.
I need to get my truck back at the house. Got to pull off the airbags, camera, tools, transponder etc. Got a couple hours work.
Best part is I don’t have to worry about warranty and tires for a while.

At 7100 miles a month, that's going to go quick. How many miles did you get on your '22 oem tires? I only made 16k, mostly off highway towing. In all fairness to Firestone, I did change them a little early because of two flats. My Hercules are doing better @19k but nothing great.

I managed to get 28k on the Firestones. Had 63K on my Michelin LTX’s. Great tire. Granted the first 14k on the Transforce tire was highway. New truck so back to Firestones again.

I’m at about 11K on my trashforce AT’s, and aside from the OEM alignment specs wearing the outer edge of the front tires they have hardly worn. I highly doubt I’ll wear these tires out, they suck. Trying to decide how long I can run them vs buying new rubber. Tires are too expensive for what they are.

I will say these AT’s are lasting much longer than my HT’s did on the 18.

My Firestone HT have 21 k on them and are wearing evenly Hauling a 3 k slide in truck camper about 10 k of those miles on pretty rough all weather roads Another summer season of about 6 k and new tires next winter. They do ok in the snow with weight in the back and 4 h but truck won’t move in 2h in the snow.Definitely not winter tires at all
