Engine/Transmission (1994 - 1998) popping and/or missing!

I've got a problem with the engine. It starts OK, but sounds sort of like it has a miss- but not really. Like a Half-Miss (if there is any such thing) I don't know how to better describe how it sounds. It also pops out the exhaust pipe if you rev it all at once from idle. I've noticed it mostly around 2000 rpm or so with the truck out of gear. Give me any and all opinions about what it could be.

The pump was taken off before I bought it by ?? , I know this because it has a new timing gear case .

Check your injection timing.

Sounds like your timing is set to stock specs. My truck ran like that before I had the timing bumped to 15. 5*... Good luck
