Coolant Low

Found this on another forum that just happened earlier this year. Not quite as few and far in between as many might think! I'm so glad that I did the BD upgrade now! It seems that, as time marches on, more instances of this coming true!

"My truck is getting fixed today and when my mechanic opened it up he was able to take this picture. As you can see the bolt has melted off and is gone. By the looks of the carbon buildup in the picture it has been gone for a long time. Where could the bolt have gone? My truck runs fine."

In iowa, my grid heater cycles a lot. Pretty much every start except in the summer. I think I read somewhere that anything under 60* F?

It depends on baro pressure and ambient temp. However, general numbers are between 60-70F. On the 2020 work truck I drive, I've seen it tell me to wait 10 seconds even though it is 70F outside on a morning cold start.

From my 2022 owners manual, its the same I read in my 06 owners manual:
NOTE: The temperature displayed in the instrument
cluster does not necessarily reflect the engine
manifold air temperature page 109. When
engine temperatures fall below 66°F (19°C) the
“Wait To Start” telltale will remain on indicating the
intake air heater system is active.
