All,

I have to absolutely without a doubt tell you about my wonderful experience with Road Armor and the nightmare I have had to deal with Buckstop.

I called Buckstop about 6 weeks ago to order a fully decked out bumper for my truck. They told me it would take 5-7 weeks to make. My first phone call with them was good and I felt rather confident in my choice.

I called back about week 3 to see if we were on schedule. I kind of got the impression that they didn't want to be bothered. They were short with questions and didn't seem to take a real interest in my 2000. 00 purchase. I was annoyed by this a little but decided it was probably due to stress from being behind.

I called back about week 5 to see where we were and was told we were right on schedule for 7 weeks.

I called last night (week 6, next week is week 7) and was told it was going to be another 3 weeks. I then told the guy that they had promised I would have it in 7. I was completely professional every time I spoke to them. Yet every time I spoke to them they treated me as though I was this huge annoyance and they didn't want to deal with me. I felt like it was

order your bumper

we will tell you when you will get it

poor customer service

ooopppssss we were wrong it is going to be 3 more weeks

don't call us, we will call you when we want your money :-{} :-{}

Ultimately in all fairness they did say they would move up my production date to meet the 7 week deadline. Only after I reminded them. I started to ask the man over the phone about different options and grill guards to put on. He actually referred me to a different company to look at the bumpers and guards they sold. I was getting the hint that he would rather me spend my 2000. 00 elsewhere. :--)

In the end I called and cancelled my order last night. I just don't feel they wanted my business let alone deserved it. Besides, if this was the attitude BEFORE I got the bumper what will the attitude be after they have my money? Not willing to take that chance.

ROAD ARMOR Oo.

As for Road Armor, I called them and they literally spent over 2 hours on the phone talking to me and telling me about the products they have, the processes they use to make the bumpers, and overall just shot the S**T.

The process with them has been nothing but enjoyable. Needless to say I have ordered a Titan Guard 2 with Intimidator package. These guys ROCK!!! They made me a killer deal on the package and have been more than helpful in answering all of my questions.

When I spend THOUSANDS of dollars on a product that I am putting on a vehicle that I drive every day it demands a certain amount of respect from the vendor you are doing business with.

Oo. I have found this with Road Armor and would recommend anyone to them that is looking for a positive experience in purchasing a bumper or grill guard package. ;)

i can say that that is exactly how my experience was to on jan 7 2004. i ordered the same bumper and was told 5-7 weeks. i think i called every week after the 7th week and got my bumper the middle of may. it has been installed for nine months and all the paint is falling off, and it starting to rust. contacted jim and explained problem and he said the warranty in only 90 days. he said he would make an exception and repaint it for me but i have to pay the 300 shipping, even if they painted over oil and dirt the first time. i have missing welds on the inside and my light fixture holes (4) have no weld at all on the inside. the rust is coming right threw the paint in those spots.

spoke to jim again the other day explained that i would not pay for shipping and asked if could get a powder coat estimate from a local dealer and give him the estimate. he agreed that he would "look" at it and compare it to what is cost him to paint it with their crap.

i have not gotten the written estimates back from the dealers to give to jim. maybe he will except one od them and i could get it powder coated correctly, and everybody will be happy. maybe next week i will be writing about a great story just like you. i just want it right. to spend that much money and have a pile of rust this quickly makes me sick.

i think he will do the right thing. i know i would. you can not put a price on customer service. what it will cost to fix my problems they will make on the next sale.

i hope i can print a great story soon!

Big Bob

Is it a Titan 3 or a Titan 2? I was unaware of the Titan 3. Or is that what they named the newer models? That thing looks sweet on your truck! I really like the white.

I talked to Road Armor again today and usual lead time for the Intimidator Package is 10-12 weeks. :{ They said they could probubly have it to me in 5. :-laf I went into this knowing the wait was going to be longer than normal due to not very many of the intimidator packages being sold, but this deal just keeps getting better by the day.

OOps, I see I've make a mistake in my signature! It's a Titan II.

Doc DeTon,

Over 30K on it now!

PATRIOT_Ram,

Where about do you live in AR? I live near Bentonville. It is just nice to know others that have the same interest in your area.

Ok Im just curious but has anyone hit anything with those bumpers? like a car/deer... . ? It looks intimidating as he11! and a little insurance for the front of the truck in case of an accident!

just a quick Q

Ian

I have heard a few stories.

Guy in California had front and rear bumpers. Got into a 15 car pile up on the freeway. Car in front and behind him were totaled. He drove away with only minor scratches to the finish of the bumpers.

Guy up in the northeast was plowing snow earlier this year and backed into a telephone pole at about 15MPH. Sheared the pole in half with no damage to the bumper or truck.

I have heard others but dont remeber them well enough to repeat.

Kurt and your issue. Just a few thoughts

Original Post in November(road armor bumpers.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

who has a road armor bumper that all the paint is peeling off around the edges. installed mine in on april 25 2004, took a good look at it today and found all the paint on all the edges is coming off in sheets. there are spider web marks and cracks in all the flat surfaces and the rust is showing threw. i will take pics later today and post them.

talked to jim at road armor. he said they ship 150 units per month and have less than 1% problems with paint. mine is silver. he said they would paint and powder coat it for free, but i have to pay the shipping both ways to have it done, even if it is warranty work. not too happy with that. )

Kurt,

I hope you don’t take this the wrong way. Just a thought.

You said you bought the bumpers in April of 2004 and noticed in November that the powder coat is starting to peel.

I can totally empathize with that situation. I feel your pain.

It seems to me though from your statements that Jim at Road Armor has gone more than above and beyond to help you out of this situation.

Your situation intrigued me so I did some research on my own.

I would assume before making such a large purchase that you fully read any and all warranty information. And by purchasing the item you inevitably are stating you agree to the warranty terms.

On the Road Armor web site, under Warranty info it states.

Road Armor will warranty the powder coating for a period of 90 days from the ship date. After the 90 day period Road Armor will not warranty the finish of our products due to exposure of natural elements, and normal wear-and-tear.

If you bought the item in April and started to have issues with it in November, that is 7 months. Over twice the stated warranty coverage time.

Coming from a background of owning my own business in the past, I would see it as an extreme positive he is willing to help you even though the item is out of warranty for the issue you are having.

I can understand not wanting to incur the costs of shipping at 600. 00. But you should also try to step in Jim's shoes for 2 seconds and realize what you are asking for.

From a legal standpoint he owes you NOTHING, NADDA, ZIP, ZERO, and ZILCH.

From a customer service standpoint it sounds like he is going above and beyond.

From my discussions with Jim over my own purchase, he seems like a fair and customer service oriented guy. I don’t know very many other business owners that personally take sales orders and customer phone calls. This to me alone seems to scream customer service.

I hope the two of you are able to work out a positive win/win situation.

All of this is just my humble opinion

Pictures of guy from wreck in Texas

I found the pictures from the guy who had the wreck in Texas (thought it was California). The car is a Volvo and the Truck (whats left of it) is a Chevy.

NNelson, I live in West Fork and work in Springdale. I frequent the Bentonville / Rogers area. Did that truck hit both of those? I'm curious as to what the story is.

dsteinke

I live near Bentonville and work in Fayeteville.

The guy rear ended the Volvo and the Chevy rear ended him at the same time. My understanding is it was about a 15 car pileup on a TX freeway.

NNelson.....

Thanks for posting...

Now, THAT's a testimonial :-laf

A teenage kid was unfortunately killed as a passenger in the rear seat of an Accord when it was t-boned after running a red light. The truck that hit the Accord had an aftermarket bumper, and the parents are suing the owner of the truck saying that the bumper was a lethal weapon.
