Anyone know how to turn of the seatbelt chime on an '06? I know, I know, wear your damn seat belt!! 98% of the time i do, but on the job in the North 40, sometimes I dont. ;)

Unplug it (right rear corner seat support) and stick a few fine strands of copper wire in the female ends of the plug then plug it back in. It's just a switch that makes continuity when the belt is plugged in so essentially your compleeting the circut all the time this way. I stripped the strands of wire out of a piece of 14 gauge I had laying around.

I just did it this weekend and I'm a much happier man now. I can hop in and move the truck 300 yards without having to put my damn seatbelt on.

go to the parts store and they sell a crimp to put two wires together. Just put it on both wires of the seat belt minder. This will do away with the seat belt minder and will show that the seat belt is always connected.

THANK YOU !!!! I've only had the truck a week and it's drivin' nuts just moving around my property.

I did what Scott did to fix the seat belt chime. Works good. I also fixed the key

chime by cutting the pink wire going to the door latch. Now the ecm thinks the door is

always closed. I just removed the door panel to get to it. That may be a fix for the

horn honking tsb. I haven't had that tsb done so I'm not sure. But if the ecm thinks

the door is closed it should.

You can't program it out yourself ? My '04 had the instruction in the owners manual on how to turn it off. Search the forum and you'll find the instructions. All I remember was the book had a procedure to turn the key on and off "at least" 3 times, but you had to do it "exactly" 3 times.

You can, in fact, program it out yourself. I just asked the dealer service writer to help me disable it and he said to check the Owner's Manual under 'Seat Belts' and I'd find it. While in the truck with engine off fasten your seat belt. Start the engine and after the seat belt light goes off unhook and rehook the belt at least three times in ten seconds. Shut off the engine and you're done. It worked.

Not sure what page it was on, but it's in the first section of the manual.

Hope this helps. What a relief !!

You can reprogram it to get rid of the chime, the nice part about shorting the wires is that it get's rid of the light and the chime ;)
