If this is the wrong place moderators please move. I just bought an aftermarket head unit stereo with nav built in. But in order for all the features to work correctly I need to find the speed sensor 'wire' to tap into. Does anyone know where this 'wire' is? Has anyone done something similar in the past?

TIA

Russell

I have a rally computer in my truck that I taped into the speed sensor wire coming off of the ABS unit that feeds the PCM. This feed is what the PCM uses to turn the speedo on the dash. This should work for you as long as the GPS unit can handle the number of pulses that it will receive. My rally computer has a pulse divider built into it in order to pull the number of pulses down to a resonable level, I believe it is set at a divid by 8.

I have no idea what kind of pulses this thing needs or can handle. I'm still trying to come out of the dark ages with electronic engines, which wire is it and where is it located if you remember.

TIA

Russell,

Here are a couple of pages from the manual. One is the schematic view and the wire you're interested in is on the left. The other is the ABS connector, you want pin 12.

OMG!

Now your stereo needs to know how fast you're going?!!

Does it speed up the playback in sync with your speed? I'm trying to imagine "Hot Rod Lincoln" or "Radar Love" that way... :D
