Springs sprung?

A friend has a 2010 3500 SRW. They were towing a trailer, hit a big dip in the road at around 70 and now the truck squats on the rear. Anybody else have this problem? Even my 2001 2500 had a bigger spring pack than this does.

Sounds like the rear leaf might be done. We had that happen on a '99 when a fork lift was loading a 1000# bale in bed. He got a fork caught under the lip of the bed and lifted the back up, when he realized what was happening he dropped it and the bale immediately and flattened out the springs. The truck sat there squatted looking like a wounded dog.

Sounds close. This was an underpass for turtles, undocumented democraps, or rabbits to pass over the freeway safely in Harry Reed's country. Made a big dip at the bottom, no signs or anything. There isn't much for overloads on this 2010, just a single pack. At least both sides are sprung, they are from Idaho.

Gen III Rams and apparently Gen IV Rams have longer rear leaf springs designed to provide a softer ride. My experience on an '06 dually was that they quickly sagged and rebounded badly over highway dips under frequent heavy towing just as you described. I had extra leafs installed in the rear spring packs.

The stiffer suspension was one of the reasons I decided on a cab and chassis when I replaced the '06.
