Tail gate protector

Hey I was just wondering if anyone knows if you can get those black tail gate protectors that I see on a lot of Rams? Mine didn't come with 1. So Iam curious if you can get them as an after market item?

I have the alum checker full protector on my ram , I think it is alot better than just the top piece one,If you have a choice get the full piece unit. IMO KEVIN

I have a black plastic tailgate guard that fits on the top edge. It is made by WADE. I think i paid like $20. 00 for it. Looks factory.

Kevin, I think movintruck is speaking of the of the 6" or so wide trim about 3/4s of the way down on the outside of the tailgate. It came standard on the older trucks , but was eliminated on the new ones. I know the trim piece is available separately, but whether it fits the new trucks and how it attaches to the tailgate I'm not sure of. My '95s have the trim, they are great for protecting the paint when opening the tailgate with snow or mud on top of the bumper, I'm pretty sure that was the reason for them in the first place.
