Lowering 4x4 2001 3500 To fit under fifthwheel

The overweight thing again!

Can anyone tell me the differences between the Tekonsha Sentinal, Voyager, and Envoy models? I'm buying a dual axle 27' TT with a GVWR of 7600 lbs. Thanks.

I have an Envoy. No complaints. I think one or two don't have the manual slider on the front or have a squeeze pad for manual brake application. Mine has the manual slider on the front where you can get to it. I had a Tekonsha on my last truck that had a # led to indicate power to the brakes and a little horizontal spot on the brake unit you had to squeeze between thumb & forfinger to manually apply the brakes. The one time I needed to apply the trailer brakes to straighten the car hauler out after hitting a icy patch I squeezed all over that box with out getting the right spot, darn near lost the whole rig. Now I make sure they have the slider resistor on the front.

make sure what ever you by will control enough braking axels, I went for the most axels, I think 4, that way it will have adequate amperage for a full lock up on the 2 axels I have and some reserve

My Voyager works fine for 4 brakes on a 9000# trailer. I've used this on different trucks pulling stock trailers with good results-simple and inexpensive.

I run with the Voyager and now use the Sentinel. I like the Sentinel because it gives you an indication of how much brake amperage you have set and you can adjust the level (aka sensitivity) from the front panel. I like to adjust my controller to the type of terrain I'm towing in, ie mountains or level. The Sentinel is ultimately adjustable and easy to return to your normal setting.

IMHO, you can't go wrong with any Tekonsha. I've had Reese and Kelsey-Hayes and the Tekonsha is smoothest of them all.

I sell & install the voyager--once in a while we get a bad one but tekonsha hasn't turned down a warrenty yet, some up to 5 years. I like the 9035 model. It puts out a little more power. These are the smoothest operating controllers I have found.

Dave;
I have the Voyager and have had no problems with it. It's been in and out of three trucks so far, and still works just as good as the day I bought it.
