Dickson Pull

What is the hook fee? I will have to sweet talk the old lady on this one. I have not missed one of Red's pulls yet. I may pull on this one... ... .

Let you know later in the week.

Dickson Pull Hook Fee

Only a whopping $10! I would recommend pulling there just because it is small ordeal. Good for practice for us rookies. It's a pull for antique tractors. Track and sled owned by Antique tractor club. They do a RWYB sometimes after the tractors get done. Comparing the other sleds I have pulled on, it is the lightest I have pulled. The last time I was there, they pulled about 25 trucks in two classes. I got third in the Single Wheel class with my 2 Wheel drive if that tells ya anything!

We'll be taking out daddys #4 plate and putting in a #0. It is basically the safe way of running the pump wide open.

Hey Nick, Daddy has it out for you something fierce! :D This ought to be good! Pump is getting tweaked next week, as is the turbo. Found local shop with a "Wind Tunnel" for tuning turbo's. They have multiple wheels and housings that they can change and test at numerous horsepower levels for flow and egt's. They can tune it to your horsepower level off the truck. Thought that was pretty cool.

Brother(jeff) and me are fabing up some ladder bars. Look out Nick it's on! :D Guess its time to go shopping for a gooseneck!;) Mine might not pull a sled well but it'll pull a trailer...

Hey Gap do they sell cartridge's for HX 40s? I picked up a compressor housing and a 16cm & 18cm exhaust housings for a 40 this past weekend in KY. So far the cheapest I've found a cartridge is in the $300's, but still that's A LOT cheaper than some places!

By the way I'm gonna back track and see if I can a contact # to reach you at in this thread but tell your dad I need that t-pipe ASAP I'm get'n ready to do stacks AS SOON AS POSSIBLE!Oo. :D

We are getting ready to redo dad's stacks soon. I ordered the 4 inch downpipe yesterday. Depending on whats under his you might can have it. I think it is a 3" to 5" cause it has a 3" downpipe now. I am sure you want a 4" to 5" though don't you? I'll get ya a price. I won't to say it was around $80ish.

They do sell everything. We can get "Jobber" prices so that should help. I'll check on the cartridge. You can P. M. me your phone numbers. It'll be tomorrow.

From my memory all of the plumbing for the stacks in your dad's truck is 4" and the stacks are 4" I know. As far as what's under the truck I have no clue, I just remember 4" plumbing for sure.

Let me know about the T-pipe, I don't see myself getting everything together this weekend for stacks, and I guess I'll hold out till next week, and see if you and your dad care to donate anything to me! ;)

Just let me know.

Mark,

Mark, I gave Joe Hewitt your cell phone number. he'll will be calling you soon to get those injectors off of your hands. getting a 40, huh? be careful not to run to much boost thru it. it really sucks taking the intercooler out to clean the oil out of it when they blow up.

Gap, tell dad that pulling is very addictive! I hope that he catches up soon. don't know what you are looking to spend on a trailer. i bought mine in July '03 from morphis farm equipment in pinson, TN. paid $4000 tax and all. 20'+5' trailer 8'6" wide. 14k lbs. rated, with tool box, dual jacks, winch plate, and 5' doves. came with brand new 10 ply tires axle brakes break away box and everything. you really need the wide trailer or you have to run over the fender wells.

My parts to fix my frontend will be here tomorrow. i can't wait for saturday nite. i'll be in covington. ya'll have fun in dickson, nick

just saw that the pull in dickson was changed friday nite. hmmmmmmmmmmm. may have to see if i can make that. i have to check with my driver.

gap, don't know if i'll be able to make it on friday. driver was iffy about that. said his wife had some family coming into town. so we'll just have to see. do ya'll want to come to covington on saturday nite. not to hard to find. pm me or post it here. dad has been making some good pulls. hope to see ya'll soon. nick

The Silencer Ring Saga Continues

Hey guys... I'm a little terrified, and need to see if my fears are justified or if I'm freaking for nothing. I pried twisted and pulled on my silencer ring for hours, and never got it to budge. I was at a friends house last night, and I was lamenting my situation. yada yada, I ended up pulling it in the shop, two and a half hours, and a case of beer later, we got it out.

NOW... after removal, (NOTE: I can't believe this happened. . and I REALLLY can't believe I allowed it. )(also, let me say that this guy is an ASE, and has been turning wrenches on gasser hotrods all his life. He has ALWAYS done unbelieveable quality work on my trucks... albeit this one's a little different. ) He's a very close friend, and I'd trust him with my life...

so, after the ring pops out, he has gouged a few parts of the turbo housing... to clear that up, he used an air tool of some sort. kind of like a straight grinder with "fan" type sandpaper assembley... I balked, but he claimed not to worry... the gouges did get smoothed out, but the metallic dust particles that were created I"M SURE got into the turbo. . all around the impeller and what not... He then used high pressure air to blow out any remaining particles from the turbo...

Typing this, and reading it just really makes me sick... what type of damage did I do to my engine? Is the engine gonna be destroyed?

As always, thanks for the help!

Andy

Hey, we were supposed to do that. :p

I wouldn't worry about it. And in 30,000 miles you'll quit worrying about it.

You sucked a little metallic dust through. It's not like you had a hole in your filter. One shot, it's done. No worry.

Can you hear it now?

The dickson pull is going to be late. Probably won't be pulling till 10:00. It is not for money. Just a RWYB. Fun for a test and tune anyway, and sled is pretty light.

Andy,

Did you forget to take the O-Ring out before you tried to pull the silencer? Once the O-Ring is removed it'll just fall out.

Nick,

As far as I know, Jeff(brother) and Chris(friend) will be bringing dads truck to Covington. Dad is gone to Street Rod show all weekend to sell his 35 Pymouth Coupe. I told you he has it bad! We are putting 0 plate in today and 4 inch downpipe. Turbo and pump work next week. We'll be chasing(well hopefully not) you next year! Using dickson pull friday night to test the plate and pipe out. Would love to get up to pulling in that 4k rpm realm.

Shoot the directions to me or on here if ya don't mind. I have to work Saturday but they'll be bringing the truck. They are a little heavier footed than pops is. He lets off to soon, He has done it twice now!

Anybody coming to dickson? I'll be there with my HoleDigger(I pulled some mud tires off my old Ford truck!) and dads truck. Local buddy is pulling his 96 2x #6 plate, BD TC and VB, with dual exhaust.

gap, not going to be able to make it to dickson. driver said that he couldn't swing it. i'll have him saturday nite. i think the wife laid the law down. :) had him for the last three weekends. oh well. directions to covington pull. go down i-40 to exit 66. head west on highway 70. you'll go thru brownsville around court square and keep heading west on hwy 70. you'll get a 4 way stop. stay straight and the highway turns into 54. you'll follow the signs on hwy 54 into covington and hwy 54 will deadend into hwy 51. turn left on highway 51. and it'll be less than 1 mile down 51 on your right. it's inbetween a cemetary and a big grocery store parking lot. you'll see it off the road a little bit. don't remember the name of the fairgrounds but you shouldn't miss it. we'll be meeting in brownsville about 5:45pm. if you want to meet us. won't be pulling til a little later in the evening. probably around 9 or 10. phone # is 731-616-3956 if you want to holla at me. nick

Guess who's get'n stacked again?

ME!

Getting together the piece's. My buddy in Ohio got me some 4" pipe and we're gonna try and piece it all together this weekend while I'm up there. If not I'm gonna be back up there next weekend anyways. :-laf
