A quick question to those who have pulled their timing cover. I have the new gasket and crankshaft seal ready to fix my dowel pin but It doesn't say in my service manual whether or not you need to use sealant on the gasket. It does call for Loctite 277 on the crankshaft seal. The gasket is a hard material, not rubber. Answer from anyone who has done this already? Thanks.....

My 2 cents Throw away the gasket,Or apply clear bath-tub sealent to both both side's .
If you throw out the gasket use the 600 deg oranage gasket maker sealent. works just fine.

My friend at the dealership likes to use the spray on Mopar sealer (kinda like Permatex). He puts Loctite on the cover and outside of the seal when installing a new seal.
