For anyone that cares, it appears that HERE FINALLY is releasing map updates. Just checked their page and found this: FCAGroup - 2017 North American Map for Uconnect® 8.4AN Navigation System (RA4)
2017

Part number U3562-0060-612NAM -
Availability
In stock. Guess payday I'll order up some old maps. <LOL> Wonder exactly how new this update is? http://chryslergroup.navigation.com/sku/U3562-0060-612NAM/en_US/ChryslerNA/USD

So there does not seem to be a way to down load the new maps? SnoKing

Installed my map update this past Saturday. I'm telling you, when they say this can take up to 97 minutes, it's going to take every bit of that time. What really got me was first off it tell you to turn the truck to RUN (don't start) and then run through the maze of truck to computer, back to truck and the magic begins BUT NOWHERE does it ever mention the truck will automatically turn off after 20 - 30 minutes in the run position (or at least mine does)! I freaked as it also says "DO NOT INTERRUPT THE INSTALL" so there I sat and every 20 - 30 minutes when the truck turned of quickly switched it back to run. <LOL> When the install finished up, the radio rebooted twice(?) and I never got a "it's finished" message or the usual Finished, open door, close door message. I did let it sit waiting for any done message for 5 - 10 minutes and nothing. I did do the open door, close door, off, open door, close door, on thing and everything appears normal and working. For those interested, the maps are currently dated 2016 Q4, 20170504.

Hippy43, was it worth the $115,00 to Ya?

Actually after tax and crap it's $161 but in the end this update didn't cost me a dime. Sometimes it pays off to go full blown *****Hole on them. I initially paid for an update the end of last year or early January and then decided screw this. I talked to Garmin and found out FCA gets the updates free from them. FCA gives those updates free to here.com. Here.com is the one that sets the $149 price for whatever it is they do and distribution costs. FCA and here were blaming Garmin for the cost BUT I've got it in writing from Garmin VP of marketing that they do, in fact, give updates to FCA for free. After a lot of finger pointing and running in circles I sent FCA a copy of my here.com receipt and they sent me a check for $161 to cover the full cost of the update when it became available. I don't know if I'll ever get away with that one again but yea, it was worth it in the long run. (ROFLOL)

I here' Ya...You play the same as Me If the Update was $49.00 +S/H no one would be *****en, Cost FCA 0 and $149.00 to owners Who's the thief. FCA or the hackers? Is it possible to resell it ? Are you willing? Heeeheee

Agree, what a joke. Just glad it's not a high end car, BMW or Mercedes. Their updates are well over $200+. I'd be will it sell the update but it has a serial number that I don't know how it is tied to the update itself and the VIN of the truck. You have to enter the VIN, the serial number and the request code to get the activation code. I don't know how a person would get around that part. I work in the computer field but I'm not a coder so I don't know if files could be changed to be able to reuse the thumb drive. It's something to check into if you know any coders.

Don't know of any, But another BS scam IMO, You buy the media and own 3 vehicles and No transfer allowed, Activation code would be link to your unit #s Which Ucoonect has on the RA4 8.4, you buy it it should be good for all your units register in your name.

Always something. Don't know how it would work but here is what you end up with after going through the circus.

Has all the information Serial Number, Device ID is the Requestor Code and Activation Code. You wanting to give it a try?

Headed your way. Will be REAL interested to see if it works. I did look at the drive and noticed some files had the date of the install so again, I'm not sure if there is something being written back to the drive or not. I know just enough about programming to be dangerous but what I'm seeing written back is either a version of LINUX or QNX. Post up what you figure out.. Enjoy!

What was the address you sent the bill to? Did you enclose anything else?

It started out as a rant with
RAM Customer Assistance Center. - The email I sent -
I just don't seem to understand the rational at FIAT about map updates
for
our Garmin NAV systems. I own a $65K+ RAM 3500 truck and you wants
$150
for map updates BUT if I buy a separate Garmin GPS unit, approx cost
$150,
you will get map "Updates for Life". What in the heck is the deal
here?
My
NAV system in my truck is well over $600 but you and Garmin seem to
value
the customer who spends $150 over me? Would you please explain? I love
my
truck and its big 8.4" screen but I just can't see spending $150 for
maps
that are at the least a year old. This has been discussed on almost
every
RAM forum and does not look good for Fiat Chrysler RAM. Oh, just FYI -
I
have discussed this in length with Garmin and have been told thay YOU
get
the maps FREE and the $150 price is set by Fiat. - Then I got a reply - Then next thing I know they emailed me with a secure upload link (connected to the case number) to upload my Here.ccom and paypal receipt. A couple of weeks later I got a check for $161 from FCA.
