The Cummins p/n for the Damper is 4933224 and the Fan Pulley is p/n 4930580. These are form the "standard" 6. 7. I don't know if the HO is different or not. Anyone got a ESN from a new HO? Shad

Ram said the harmonic balancer was a different part when the HO was released.

Just need a TDR member with an HO to post up their ESN.

I played around in the portion of quickserve I can access and this appears to be an ESN from a 2012 Auto HO. I don't think the dampner was only for the max tow, I am 99. 9999% sure it's for all HO's.

58076970

I can pull up the part, just no part number but it looks like its from 10-feb-11, where the one for the '10 ESN I have says 23-jan-06, but doesn't list it as viscous.

It does not show a torque convertor cooler, only plugs so I suspect it is a standard transmission.

That is a good offer at that price, I just called Cummins to check cost on it as it is too new a number to be priced in QuickServe.

Also, factory has 33 in stock.

Mike. :)

So what is different with the new part number, 5285679? bigger, heavier? or did Cummins figure out is was not charging enough compared to the FluidDamper?

Stopped by South Bend Clutch today to pick up a used OFE and flywheel I had dropped off there to get freshened up. Told Peter that I had something for him to hear. Took him outside to my '04. 5 which was idling.

Me "Ya know how your clutches always make that rattling noise when idling in neutral?"
Peter "Yep. That's cuz we build them just like the ones on a semi truck. We could make them quieter but they wouldn't last as long. "
Me "What do you hear on mine?"
Peter (listening intently) "Nothin!"
Me "That's right, nothin'! I put a 6. 7 fluid damper on this truck and the clutch noise disappeared and the shifter buzz went away. I really believe the transmission will last longer since the engine isn't torturing the bearings anymore. Not sure how it will affect the clutch. "
Peter "The clutch WILL last longer!"

That was good to hear from someone who eats, sleeps, and breathes clutches.

Then he brought two of his employees out to witness the difference and they were astounded. Even more so when I told them the 6. 7 damper was much less expensive than other dampers.

Godspeed,
Trent

I guess that's it then, better buy one now, because I am sure Chrysler will soon outsource them to the lowest bidder... soon to be china junk!

But it does show a flex plate option FW9834 Also Flywheel Housing option FH9494-05 says its for an Aisin and a RFE 58 trans.

Both dampers are 242mm in dia and are rated at 3500 RPM and below.

BTW damper p/n 4933224 doesn't come painted but pulley p/n 4930580 comes black. Both of these parts are made in the USA. Shad

Since the OP's damper is the standard 6. 7 and he has that good of results I don't see the need for the expensive 6. 7 version.

I think this may get bumped up my mod list to next, vs. #2 behind a GDP hi-rise intake manifold.

Yup. I have harmonics at 72-75 mph that is terrible annoying. Wondering if the lack of damer on the 1 piece drive shaft can be compensated for with a viscous damper.

It's possible, and one of the reasons I haven't looked into a 1 piece yet. I am guessing the damper is on my OEM shaft for a reason.

hmm I had the same thing with the one pieace drive shaft ,i loaned it to friend, same

spec truck 03/04 2500/3. 73 48re same situation great up 68mph but after 68mph it

would drone,I keep it polished hanging from my shop ceiling ready to go. now we have

fd damper rattle at idle to contend with.
