Hi all,

Been a member since 2002, let my subscription go in 2012. With family/travel it is time for me to upgrade to a 4th Gen, going to miss the ol' 12 Valve though :(

Looking at 2013/2014 Auto 4x4 CCSB right now. Any special issues, trouble spots I need to look for at the dealer? I am pulling up the build sheets on any particular ones I am interested in, a lot of times the dealer's equipment list is a little different than build sheet.

Any good back issues related to this?

Thanks,

Steven

Welcome back also!
My younger son has a 2013.5, Big Horn, 3/4 ton, 6.7L Cummins. This truck was original sold in Canada, he purchases this from an independent dealer. He cannot obtain any recalled service help at all from US dealers. He has received several recalls notices for his truck from FCA. There are several recalls on this and the 2014 for the DEF system issues plus a couple of others. So, I would make sure that the truck in question is a truck that was sold in the US first.

The truck was almost ready to shut down do to DEF issues with the DEF tank. Will with my older son’s advice and my advice the truck went under the knife for major surgery. This was very successful when using EFI live and the Edge Insight CTS2 monitor mounted on the A pillar.

If you have not read these two Buying Guides, I would review them for further information.

Thanks!

Yes I check build sheet on each truck I am interested in to see the delivery location - also helps for rust!

Already have quite a few upgrades I'm looking at depending on model. Most of the ones in my budget are Tradesman(like manual 4x4 shifter anyway), so will probably upgrade to fog lights eventually. Most of them open diff, so a TrueTrac is in the near future also.

Each year they added nice additional features. 2015 got power folding tow mirrors and 2016 added front park sensors and fixed an issue with the bed view camera, allowing user to switch it between the rear view mirror and the 8.4 display.

"fixed an issue with the bed view camera, allowing user to switch it between the rear view mirror and the 8.4 display."

THAT is the ONE thing that Irritates me the fact my backup cam is in the rear view. If I did NOT spec the worthless bed cam I would be viewing backup on the BIG screen.

So on a '14 with just a backup camera, it comes up on 5" display correct?

Depends on the model and display. Laramie and up all come with the 8.4" display and 7" EVIC in the dash in front of the driver. Some lower models can have the upgraded center display. It would be listed on the the window sticker. I would shoot for a Bighorn or SLT with upgrades. We love our Laramie with the full center console that runs up to the dash. SnoKing

My 15 shows the rear (tailgate) receiver hitch in rear view mirror, shows the bed cam (5th wheel hitch) on the big screen.

Brought her home yesterday. 2014 Tradesman w/120,000mi. NC truck so pretty clean and rust free underneath.
