Texas Seatbelt Laws and 3500

OTHER going private was a good idea.

It helps Robert buffalo the public into thinking the TDR membership is something it is not! LOL!

As much as I complain, we all signed on AGREEING to play by the rules posted.

Now, keep in mind if somebody is moderating, they probably don't have much of a life anyway, and will tend to have little fits of power trips every now and then.

Don't sweat the small stuff, maybe they will quit if you don't give them attention in the form of complaints? ;)

Hey Doc,

Is it possible to maybee get a "flaming anything goes fourm" here? Where only people who want in on it, can get in? No holds barred, must be granted permission, ya know, I think I saw this kind of fourm somewhere. Whatcha think?

Later, Rob

Q: Why did the blonde scale the chain-link fence?

A: To see what was on the other side.

Q: Did you hear about the blonde coyote?

A: Got stuck in a trap, chewed off three legs and was still stuck.

Q: Why do blondes put their hair in ponytails?

A: To cover up the valve stem.

Dock I Love you like a brother but [shock value] The TDR's Member's subscribe to something they like ... ... ... A common place to share info , Thoughts , ideas , and even to cut loose every now and again (Sandwich cutting). I don't think for a minute that EVERY person that just so happens to stumble upon the TDR is a Straight-Laced-Real-World-No-Room-For-Uninspired and Spontainious-OFF TOPIC-Subject-In-Their-Life kind of person. So I don't think the TDR should find this forum Embarrassing what so ever. For the above mentioned ... ... BACK BUTTON ON THE BROWSER and look arround ... ... . Life happens. [/Shock Value]

Not a flame by any means :) :) :)

If I had no time in my life for a Joke or two I wouldn't click on that thread ..... Simple as that ... ... . although I can't speak for everyone

I think real life stories are more interesting than passed around jokes. I get all the jokes you guys tell in my email anyway :)

Doc

I can honestly say that for me this isn't really about the jokes, I also get most of the ones posted in email, or see them on many of the other BBS's I frequent.

One of the other BBS's I frequent is the complete opposite of this, it is very crude and rude, very un-PC, with cussing, etc. I can't say that I agree with alot of what goes on there, but I ignore what I don't like and cipher through to get the good information that is there for my 4x4 project.

To me this whole issue is about close mindedness (if thats actually a word?). I have personal stories I couldn't even tell here doc, w/o frear of them being pulled now, I think they are funny, but some would probably consider them crude... .

such as the time (short version) I took a bet that a fart wouldn't light (I was young and didn't believe it) from the kid next to me in Church, well guess what, they do and alot of people in Church found that out that day too. That is a true story and I look back on it now and find it a little funny, I was only 11 or 12 and if I had known that a flame was going to shoot appr. 12' outta my arse , I would never had done it in church... . :-laf

now this is true, but is it considered a safe topic? I mean it includes crude behaviour in a religious environment that may be considered unacceptable by other members and may now be deleted.....

To me if this is deleted, thats bad... . because I don't consider it to be something bad, and just because it could lead to other stories of a similar nature, does that mean that it should be deleted?

we did all agree to the rules of the board when we joined, I like this place and was attempting to make a point earlier about a refund, but this is a community with alot of different folks, and so far I like them all,,,,,maybe I just like to argue too much... but as you can tell, I will at least speak up for something I believe in.....

Yep I'm still waiting for someone to tell me that my Post was Pulled. For the word Breast No less... . I guess Doc had some polls to post.

I really thought we have been through this before. I have been 'away' on personal business for a while and I appreciate Doc helping out.

I believe last time we went through this Steve St. summed it up very well, so I will paste part of that post here.

Right from the front page of the website "The purpose of the Turbo Diesel Register Website is to parallel that of the TDR Magazine: to provide an open forum for the positive exchange of information. And as previously noted, our goal is to give Turbo Diesel owners more satisfaction in the ownership of their truck. " From the guidelines it states "The TDR Website Discussion Forum is designed to help owners solicit input from others on the proper maintenance and operation of their truck. " You all agreed to abide by those guidelines when you signed up for the site. Dennis has just been thrown into this position and he was specifically chosen by the owners of the site because he was conservative. There are many jokes posted in the other forum (for one thing) that offend many members - we get the complaints all the time. On the old tired "if you don't like it don't read it" deal - remember, they paid too. The point of this website is to improve the satisfaction of owning your truck. I feel that the other forum does build comradery, however we do not need to tell dirty jokes in here to do that. The guidelines also state to "keep it clean". If you wish to tell and read dirty jokes there are a MILLION places on the internet that you can do that, it doesn't need to be done here as well - it's not the point of the site in any way shape or form. Why did you subscribe to the TDR magazine and sign up for access to the TDR site?

Remember, if you become unsatisfied with your subscription to the TDR you can request a refund at any time by emailing rpatton@ix.netcom.com and they will promptly send it out - I know of noone that has requested a refund and not gotten it.

We as moderators are doing what we believe is best for the TDR.

PS.

I particulary like Cummins4Life's pic. The forum moderators are watching you, that's what we are 'paid' to do.

A couple of weeks ago, there was a similar discussion following Dennis' notice that dirty jokes won't be tolerated. You know the rules.

How about you guys who posted on that thread giving me your mother's email address. I'll send them copies of what was written. :D

Doc

Ha HA I was hoping you would say something like that... ... My Mother and Step Father sent me that Joke, so if you want there e-mail so you can ask them let me know.

Better yet I can probably forward it to you with there e-mail on it.

Gentlemen, May I add my two cents worth? Thank you. This is how I see it and, unfortunately how it is. First of all let me say that these moderaters are not the first ones in these positions and probably had to accept to uphold the web site conditions prior to their being accepted to this position.

Second, when we all sighed on with our passwords ect... we stated that we would adhear and uphold the conditions set forth in the rules. If I didn't like those conditions, I didn't have to become a member. Now, I didn't think that the jokes were all that bad. One was a little off colour and one had a swear word in it. The rules specifically state what can be said and tolerated. Do I like it, it doesn't matter. I knew what the rules were. If we can't be trusted to uphold the little things, how can we be trusted to uphold the big things? Being in the Air Guard I don't particularly like that I got activated or like being sent to sand land in the middle of my summer, hunting and fishing season. But I knew the conditions set forth before my signing on the dotted line. I accepted and am now honour bound to fulfill the conditions that I accepted. The moderators have a job to fill and they are doing what they were asked to step up to do and perform. Upon our acceptance of the rules to access this site, it' our responsibility to try to uphold them to the best of our abilities.

KPhillip, I'm sorry that you want to quit the site. I know that you have valuable input to problems and solutions. I know that I will miss out on something important that you will sooner or later contribute to this site. DON'T QUIT because of a little slap on the wrist.

Doc... . Bravo. Keep up the upappreciated work. Uphold the rules as they were set forth to you. Not everyone seems to understand that you have a Boss also and have to answer to him.

Sorry this is long winded, maybe redundant, and in some eyes even stupid. But that is the black and white of it.

Doc, have you ever stopped to think that most of us are an embarrassment to our wives, sisters, and mothers? Think about it- we drive loud, stinky, smoky DODGE TRUCKS and we're always looking for ways to make them louder and more obnoxious! And we're supposed to care about a few feelings getting bruised?

Reminds me of what a friend told me about why he couldn't buy a Dodge. He said his sister worked for Enron and his brother was in prison, and it would kill his mama to find out that ALL her kids turned out bad! :D

As a lurker here for almost three years, I have seen this site go through many changes. I remember 1000 memebers, etc, etc.

I have to say that this thread is totally unjustified. So a joke got censored. Big Deal. Censorship has been happening on this site for many different reasons. The fact that this thread has lingered on for six pages and people are upset because "THEY" own and pay for the site with there dues is rediculous.

When your jokes get censored, maybe it time for a personal skin check. Then post your complaint.

Keeping the lines black and white will cut down on the trolls and keeps the flamings to a minimum. I have seen sites that turn into an incredible ***** board with every thread. When that happens, the forum loses it value.

I don'ty think that people are mad (me included) about pulling a post now and again. . the fact is that most folks here don't think a rule was broken.

I found none of it off color enough to offend.
