RV bed on a 3500 Dually?

According to the literature on the 2005 2500 I can tow up to 13,100 when the truck is "properly equipped". I looked in the literature and on the web site for a defination of "properly equipped" and I can't find anything. Would anyone out there know what it means?

Dodge doesn't want you to haul more than 10,000lbs on the reciever hitch. To tow at the max GCW, you must use fifth-wheel or goose neck hitch, "properly equipped".

To be able to tow the max allowable weigh, you would need to have the very lighest curb weight for the truck. This means regular cab, 2WD, short box, etc. Not what most people want to own.

Another problem with towing heavy with a 2500 is that tow heavy, you need to use a gooseneck or 5th wheel, but those type of trailers have high hitch weights that overload the GVWR of the truck long before you can get close to the GCWR or max towing weight. See http://www.klenger.net/arctic-fox/weight/index.html for more info on towing weights.

For max tow ratings properly equipped means H. O. engine, 6 speed transmission, 4:11 gear ratio, regular cab 2wd with the proper hitch ofcourse.

There is usually an "*" next to "properly equipped". Look at the bottom of the page for info. When Ford was touting their 19K+ towing, the truck in the ad was an ex-cab 4x4 with all of the junk on it. The asterisk said the truck with the 19K+ rating was a standard cab 4x2 F350 daul wheel with diesel, 6 speed, and 4. 88 gears. Not exactly the truck everyone wants to buy for dual duty, towing and commuting.

It would probably be a 2wd truck with 4. 10 gears and the automatic, it is rated to tow more than the standard trans, you can find out the towing capacity of each truck configuration here, http://www-5.dodge.com/vehsuite/TowingGuide.jsp
